Nigham | 4042 comments Sixteen years on the streets and you can learn a lot. But all the wrong things, not the things you want to learn. Sixteen years on the streets and you see a lot. But all the wrong sights, not the sights you want to see.

If someone wants to develop taste in classics or historical fiction, this is the book he needs to start with. Short and an easy read…
There is also an epilogue for this book, That Was Then, This Is Now and Tex is an epilogue for That Was Then, This Is Now... it’s kind of epilogue of an epilogue. The first book was ranked 38th and the second one, 97th … on the ALA’s Top 100 most frequently challenged books: 1990–1999.

The Outsiders, her first novel, was published in 1967 by Viking.

Once published, The Outsiders gave her a lot of publicity and fame, and also a lot of pressure. S.E. Hinton was becoming known as "The Voice of the Youth" among other titles. This kind of pressure and publicity resulted in a three year long writer's block.

Her boyfriend (and now, her husband), who had gotten sick of her being depressed all the time, eventually broke this block. He made her write two pages a day if she wanted to go anywhere. This eventually led to That Was Then, This Is Now.

AND... YOU PEOPLE MISSED AN AMAZING READ…!!!

PS- Won't be participating next month.

Happy Reading!

message 861: by Uzair (new)

Uzair | 1172 comments Can someone explain all of this?I don't see any instructions or what to read or whatever. From what i've gathered you need a buddy/partner to read a chapter of a specified book while you read as well.Is that correct? And can anyone tell me if i'm missing something?

message 862: by Aakash (new)

Aakash (mistyanon) | 5393 comments Mod
nope, you are right @ozair :)
here we ask a member to choose a book and then all of us read that book and comments and discuss wherever applicable. And there are daily tasks for the daily read as we do a single read each month. and that is all.

Not exactly:( YA aka young adult is for readers aged 13-18 or above cause' genres are not a reading LEVEL.

NA umm new adult is for readers above legal age (18 in most counrties) but you know the problem with NA. Too much emphasis on sex. (duh)
