A.K Noon | 2 comments Hello! I'm another Kirsty, and my novel is Spectrum , an urban fantasy set in modern-day dystopia, where the government have decreed that magic users are mistrusted, persecuted and incarcerated.
Rebellion is stirring, however, and the hunters are about to become the hunted.

Please give my first chapter a read, and see what you think!

I'd also like to strongly recommend taking a look at The City Will Fall by the wonderful Kim Whale who has written a wonderfully compelling (and polar opposite twin to my own) world where being ordinary (or "Blank") is to be an outcast from the magocratic society.

Kayla Krantz (authorkaylakrantz) | 2 comments Hi, my name is Kayla.

My first publishing experience was with a psychological horror book I have on the market right now called Dead by Morning. Without going into details, that novel went between traditionally and self-published a number of times.

On Inkshares, however, I have a different project idea in mind altogether. I'm looking for support for my epic fantasy about witches called The Council, Book One of the Witch's Ambitions Trilogy.

Here's a short summary:

A crippled witch learns everything she’s built her life on in the Land of Five have been lies. She’s powerful...and dangerous.

If you're interested, the first four chapters are up on Inkshares!

Thanks for reading!

Matt Harry | 4 comments Hi All!

Just wanted to introduce myself -- or my book, rather. SORCERY FOR BEGINNERS finally began its pre-order campaign last week! You can check it out here:

https://www.inkshares.com/books/sorce...

It's a kid's fantasy novel about an eighth grader named Owen Macready who just wants to fit in. Then his mom goes to Africa to find herself, his dad moves him to Las Vegas, and Owen discovers an easy-to-understand guide to magic that actually works.

But when he uses sorcery against a school bully, a chain of events is set in motion that will make Owen the target of a ruthless millionaire, get his father arrested, and possibly upend the natural order of the entire world. No pressure.

I managed to sell 55 copies in the first week, but I'm not finding myself the best fit for this self-marketing thing. Any advice about how to push our works into the wide world would be much appreciated. Thanks for taking a look!

Robert Batten (robertbatten) | 14 comments Hello everyone. I've been lurking about this group for a couple of months. My dystopian sci-fi Human Resources is now funding as part of The Launchpad Competition. https://www.inkshares.com/books/human...

"In a future ravaged by a grim virus, the survivors have been enslaved by corporations. When an immortal assassin learns of a possible cure, she is drawn back into conflict with her former masters."

If I was to give you comparisons, I'd say there are elements of Daybreakers (the Ethan Hawk movie), The Passage by Justin Cronin, The Immortal Rules by Jullie Kagawa, and some character and pacing parallels to the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas.

I'd love it if you had a look to decide if you like it.

Matt Harry | 4 comments Hello again, fellow Inksharesians! I entered my book SORCERY FOR BEGINNERS into the Geek & Sundry competition only 18 days ago, but I'm proud to say we're already in 11th place out of 400 entries!

Unfortunately, the contest ends on Nov. 1. We have little over a week, but I know we can can crack the top 5, if not the top 3. Take a look at the project here:

https://www.inkshares.com/books/sorce...

Any assistance -- tweeting about the book, sharing it with a friend, purchasing a pre-order -- is a huge help, and much appreciated! Anyone who orders before Nov. 1 will get a signed copy as well as an exclusive, handmade bookmark that plays a key role in the novel!

Thanks again for all your support --

mh

Dan Levinson | 1 comments Hey there, I'm Dan Levinson.

I'm the author of the Psionic Earth series. I'm also a Launchpad finalist -- you can check out my entry, A Wilderness of Comfort, here: https://www.inkshares.com/books/a-wil...

"A Wilderness of Comfort combines historical fiction and modern-day thriller to create a labyrinthine tale of obsession, death, and deceit. It tracks two men—Erich Gunther, a German soldier during WWII; and Maxfield Reynolds, an art consultant in present day—and their parallel pursuit of a matching set of lost masterpieces painted by some of the world’s most famed Impressionists: Bazille, Sisley, Renoir, Monet. But the cost of these works is more than money; it is madness, and blood. And both Erich and Max will have to pay that price . . ."

Anyhow, I'm looking forward to getting to know the community here. Thank you for having me.

Best,
Dan Levinson

Jeffrey Hirschberg (jeffhirschberg) | 2 comments Hello fellow Inkshares authors!

My name is Jeff Hirschberg and I am a film professor, screenwriter, and published non-fiction author.

My new Women’s Fiction novel, COMPLETELY INCOMPLETE, is a Finalist in the Launch Pad Manuscript competition.

It’s been described as BRIDGET JONES’S DIARY and THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA in tone.

The Pitch:

The top marriage counselor in NYC falls for her biggest rival as well as the patient they’re both helping. A romantic rectangle.

You can read the first five chapters on the below link.

I would be happy to have a conference call with book clubs, talk about the first five chapters, and get feedback as I finish the book.

https://www.inkshares.com/books/compl...

I look forward to checking out the other books on this thread.

Thanks!

-- Jeff

Robert Batten (robertbatten) | 14 comments Hi all, excited to let you all know my sci-fi Human Resources was one of two books selected by Scott Free as their winners in the 2016 Launch Pad competition.
The linked crowdfunding campaign is ongoing (until 16 December).

If you haven't previously had a look, I'd love it if you came and checked out the project page: https://www.inkshares.com/books/human...#

Susan Hamilton | 4 comments Hello everyone,

Really happy to share that my fantasy/crime novel "Shadow King" was named to the 2016 Launchpad Competition's "Top Ten" list of finalists, and received some great feedback from the judges (including praise for original concept).

I am still funding for the Inkshares component of the competition until December 16.

Please take a minute to check it out: https://www.inkshares.com/books/shado...

Thank you!

Sarah Pearce | 1 comments Hello all: I've just put my second novel onto Inkshares.
https://www.inkshares.com/books/widow...
Looking for a little advice on how best to market it on Goodreads. I notice that there are some pre-publication postings for books.

The book is historical fiction that begins in 1849 and links to 2015 through a long manuscript and three inscribed boulders uncovered on a remote mountainside. It's about a woman intrigued by the wilderness of Northern California and her relationship with the infamous bandito, Pajaro Mendonca. Please check it out. And thanks!

M.D. Parker (parkerwrites) | 5 comments So I opened my novel - The Edge Of Morning, back up to pre-orders. This new campaign is after I set the book aside for a few months and then went back in and made many revisions.

The Altair, a salvage starship, searches for wealth and purpose in a universe where endless exploration of untouched systems and excessive colonization can be found in equal parts. A natural born warrior, with a sharp tongue, Lyn is the hired gun of the crew. Despite her loyalty, she begins to doubt her crew and captain, after a crazy new guide joins the crew with promises of riches and power beyond dreams. Lyn is left to decide just what life is worth if there is any hope of making beyond the morning

P.A. Tebbe (maltese7) | 11 comments My science fiction novel "Crow's Gambit" is now part of the latest contest on Inkshares. This is something I wrote for NanoWriMo a couple years ago and have had up as a draft to get feedback until now. Always happy for constructive feedback (referrals and Pre-Orders don't hurt either though).

"Confined by the alien Sylph to the surface of Earth mankind has lost the power of flight. Can one woman use her knowledge and skill to overcome human politics and alien indifference to regain the skies?"

Msteel | 1 comments Hello! I got a chance to use Inkshares through the Launch Pad Manuscript Competition.

It's titled Death's Detective.

I called it Supernatural meets Veronica Mars but Launch Pad went with Dead Like Me meets Jessica Jones.

A private investigator gets in over her head when her newest clients turn out to be a family of Grim Reapers looking to track down the human who murdered one of their own and upset the natural balance of the world.

https://www.inkshares.com/books/death...

There is a sample chapter posted and I welcome any feedback!
