Jason (atomicboywonder) | 44 comments I guess I should have posted here first, but let me get that out of the way now! I'm Jason and I'm currently funding a space opera in the current nerdist contest (https://www.inkshares.com/books/to-li...) and I'm really happy to be here and on Inkshares. I wish I could buy every single copy recommended to me, there is so much talent floating around!

I'm good for giving and receiving feedback as well or if you just need some witty banter. I can banter with the best of 'em. I've already picked up a lot of great promo tips just by perusing the threads here.

You all can also reach me directly via email at split0@gmail.com and on Twitter at twitter.com/atomicboywonder and facebook at facebook.com/atomicboywonder.

Elayna (elaynamae) Hi everyone! Elayna here! Newbie to both Inkshares & goodreads and just wanted to say hey and that I'm glad Tony shared the group with me! I'm really excited that the Nerdist contest led me to this site, cause it's been a blast this past week since I launched my book.

I also just really have to say, the people I've connected with through Inkshares so far have all been incredibly kind and welcoming to me, and for someone who gets nervous at the start of new adventures, I've been so happy to find that I need not worry. Thumbs up all around to everyone in here. The work I've seen so far is just outstanding and I couldn't be happier to be trying to contribute my verse to this community. ^_^ Thanks for being fabulous.

Kirsty Jennings (kirstyj78) | 33 comments I love the fact that all authors strive to help other fellow authors. I've made quite a few new friends via FB and twitter who have helped in sharing and spreading the word.

I have several drafts, two of which are books two and three after Soulblade. I also have two ideas: The Dreamers and Dragonborn.

Thank you to the people who have already pre-ordered Soulblade, I have a FB page dedicated to my book series TheDragonOrder if you wish to contact me through there.

John Robin (john_robin) | 299 comments @Kristy, this is the spirit with which this group was set up. Let's help each other find ways to connect to our readers, lets pool our knowledge together and be helpful, trusting that with giving comes greater reward. Indeed, some wonderful things have come about as a result of this philosophy in action which I'm sure you'll see as you explore around.

Jamie Eddy | 9 comments Hi everybody,

I'm Jamie Eddy and the author of 'Tales of a Janner Abroad'. I was recently mugged and left for dead and wound up in hospital suffering with severe hypothermia, stuck with nothing to do for days on end it was then that I decided to turn my travel journal full of weird and wonderful tales into a fully fleshed out book.

I have no clue when it comes to the promotion of this be the book itself is coming along nicely.

Thank you to John Robin for the invite and I am looking forward to helping out follow members when I can.

Kind regards

Jamie

George | 2 comments Hi there. I'm George Pitre, and besides being the worst Cajun ever I'm also the Author of the Girl Who Blinks currently accepting pre-orders over on Inkshares. I've been writing for a while, but only ended up signing up there when a friendof mine sent me the link to the Nerdist's space opera contest. Since I had written one during NaNoWriMo I jumped in with both feet.

Now that my project is live, I'm quickly learning that I know almost nothing about self promotion. Even if I feel like I am out of my depth in that department, I'm still enjoying the experience while trying to pick up as much as I can.

If you want to check out my project you can find it here

Please don't hesitate to give any insight on how I can improve my draft.. I'll take any of help I can get.

George | 2 comments I don't eat seafood or anything spicy and am not much of an outdoorsman. It's become a running gag, especially since you can't come from much further south than I do.

Thomas Arnold George wrote: "I don't eat seafood or anything spicy and am not much of an outdoorsman. It's become a running gag, especially since you can't come from much further south than I do."

I think I know a bit about how you feel. I'm a native of the Tennessee hills here yet I'm bored by Nascar, can't stand to fish, and think muddin' is one of the most moronic past times ever thought up. Just not a good hillbilly at all... though I've never turned down good moonshine.

message 215: by Mathew (new)

Mathew Reuther (mathew_reuther) | 1 comments Hi all! I'm Mathew, and I'm currently working on No Gods But Us, the first book in my genre-bending Elegy for Halcyon Chimera series. I'm planning to see what Inkshares is like with this novel as I work through it.

I'm a writer who stays at home with his kids while his wife does all that hard work for "the man" and I typically focus on Speculative Fiction and Non-Fiction. (Though I do have a completed draft of something like historical women's fiction as well...) My current work pretty much draws from a whole bunch of SpecFic traditions. (What can I say...genre is something I think needs more prodding than it often gets.)

I just read about this group on the Inkshares blog and thought I'd come by and say "hi" so...

Hi. :)

message 216: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Hi! Here I am, at long last! Author of 'The One Unspoken.' Hope that's not promotional, just explanatory...

I don't know if you're still on here, but please, keep plugging, even if it becomes self-publish. Truth is, I've been published by many, big and small and now, hopefully, here, since I've moved to the US and my UK publisher has moved small genre, not including histrical/paranormal. And you ALWAYS have to promote yourself (Remember J.K. announcing that Dumbledore was gay waaay after the fact? Think that was coincidence??) So keep at it!

message 218: by Courtney (new)

Courtney (clcraven) | 5 comments Hello there! I'm Courtney, C. L. Craven on Inkshares and the author of Stranger Miracles. I'm newish to Inkshares (my funding campaign has 55 days left I think) but I've been writing for a long time and decided to pursue it as a real thing I could actually do a couple years ago. I'm remarkably bad at self promotion, I might be the world's biggest introvert and I work as a dog walker. I'm starting classes to get an MA in English and creative writing on Monday because I'm told I can't be a dog walker forever.

I was just introduced to this group by another Inkshares writer, so... Hi :-)

Matt Harry | 4 comments Thanks for inviting me John! A draft of my MG fantasy book SORCERY FOR BEGINNERS is up on Inkshares, and I'm thinking of starting my (gulp) pre-order campaign in a few weeks. Any advice would be much appreciated! Nice to meet you all --

P.A. Tebbe (maltese7) | 11 comments Greetings! I'm Patrick, author of the almost completed draft "Fortunes of the Space Sloth", something I tossed into the Space Opera contest on Inkshares. I've done NaNoWriMo a few times but I'm fairly new to Inkshares (just over a month) and new to the Groups portion of Goodreads.

So far Inkshares has been a blast. Now if someone can just tell me how to find an Inkshares tshirt to go with my NaNoWriMo ones I'll be set :)

Ronald | 6 comments Hey all, I'm Ronald Valle, and I'm very new to the Inkshares community. My book We Clocked the T-Rex just started funding and so far the fellow Inkshares authors have been incredibly encouraging. There are so many cool people to follow. Almost too many...

I'm a science teacher with a BFA in Creative Writing. It's great meeting you all. I wish Goodreads had the same web developers as Inkshares...

message 230: by Ken (new)

Ken Lindsey | 1 comments Wow, this is a long list of folks to get through, but I made it!

Hey all, my name is Ken Lindsey and I'm pretty new to the Inkshares community. My book, Clockwork Charlie, is in the drafting phase and I have already come into contact with lots of great community members.

I've actually been kind of inactive on Goodreads, but this might just be the group to get me back into it!

message 231: by Evan (new)

Evan Graham | 2 comments Since I am obviously now going to have to add goodreads to the list of sites I'm not used to using but really should be if I want to get my book noticed, I may as well introduce myself here and inject myself into this community.
Hello! I'm Evan Graham, author of Tantalus Depths. I entered into the Geek and Sundry Hard Sci-Fi competition almost a month late and still managed to claw my way to fifth place (an achievement I'm really proud of). Of everyone who entered that contest, I believe I'm the only one who's both still funding and close to a publishing goal.
I've never been active on goodreads, but I've been VERY active on inkshares lately, and I've come to really like the community there, so I'm hoping to be pretty active here, assuming I can find room for it in my campaign-addled memory.

message 232: by Corey (new)

Corey Easton | 1 comments Hey! My name is Corey and I'm a new author trying to get my first book published through the Nerdist video game contest. The book is called 'The Avatar of Dorian Gray' and it's a modern update of the classic novel set in the world of an East coast fraternity.

I've felt really welcomed to Inkshares so far, and this group seems like a cool place to be. Thanks to whoever created it!

Hi everyone, I'm Darren Love and I joined Inkshares a little while ago when a fellow screenwriter began his first book (Mechcraft). I've been hooked on Inkshares ever since.
I plan to write my first book starting next month and I'll be starting from scratch. I've posted 3 ideas so far on Inkshares and whichever one gains the most traction I'll proceed with fleshing out the story then start writing and posting chapters.
I'll also be skulking around the forums and this group looking for tips and advice. I'll be eager to get feedback from the Inkshares community as I work on my book. Even though I'm a noob, I plan to give back to the Inkshares community as well by reading, commenting and supporting other books.
(You know, I meant to just wing a comment here but I ended up going back and rewriting and editing it - I'm even editing this sentence as I write it, help me...)

Welcome Nell,

You may want to check out the Drinkshares episodes on Draftfest (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cd8-a...) or The Draftshares live stream with Avalon from Inkshares (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82ged...) these are helpful for authors starting out and if you like what we are doing, check the other episodes or tune in for a live stream.

Darren, can you post your Inkshares profile so people can easily check out your ideas and pick any that interest them?

message 238: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey Joe, sure, it's:

https://www.inkshares.com/darren-love

I'm currently finishing a screenplay, which I plan to wrap up in July, but after that I will begin my book. My goal is to crowdsource the idea first, see which one garners the most interest, write a summary/synopsis to post as I flesh out the story, then finally start posting some sample chapters.

Aside from the excellent community aspect of Inkshares I personally think it's a great motivational tool to keep the momentum going on writing a book.

I'm Robert Batten - author of dystopian sci-fi Human Resources - I haven't tried to fund it yet, but hope to soon.

DashAtomic | 10 comments Hiya! I'm Dash. Been ghostwriting for a couple years and got pulled into Inkshares thanks to the Nerdist video game contest. I was late to the party, but I like the direction the book has taken, so I'm pressing on with The Lamplighter's Apprentice. Visit my review blog and friend me on Facebook!

message 245: by Jane-Holly (new)

Jane-Holly (janeholly) | 1 comments Hello everyone, I'm Jane-Holly (first name), I've been writing for...ever... overusing ellipses and exclamation marks for most of that time, and was convinced by a friend that pulling out one of my fantasy novel ideas and putting it out into the world on Inkshares for the G&S contest was a good idea. I had my first name as just "Holly" on Inkshares for a while, then I changed it to my full name as I finally figured out how to use the reader pipeline and my email has the whole thing attached to it. I didn't want to confuse people too much (probably too late for that).

My book is "Fae Child."

message 246: by A.K (last edited Aug 30, 2016 09:35AM) (new)

A.K Noon | 2 comments Hello! I'm Kirsty, and write on Inkshares under the gloriously ridiculous pen-name "Antimony Noon", author of Spectrum (which has recently been described as Orwellian dystopia plus magic).

I'm loving Inkshares as a community but am quickly finding that crowdfunding and I don't get on too well, so any advice that the shared wisdom of this group can offer will be very eagerly received!

message 247: by Cem (new)

Cem Bilici (cembilici) G'day. Cem here (pronounced dʒem for anyone remotely interested).

I write horror, dark fantasy, (a) steampunk... some other things on the drawing board also. I just love telling stories so whenever one comes to me I love I go with it...

So many ideas, so little time.

message 248: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Krantz (authorkaylakrantz) | 2 comments Great to meet everyone!

My name's Kayla, and I'm new to Inkshares. I had a book traditionally published by a small publishing company that shut down about a month ago. The book, Dead by Morning, is now back on Amazon though via the KDP select program.

Now, I'm on a new venture--getting word out about my inkshares campaign for my first fantasy book, The Council. More details can be found here: https://www.inkshares.com/books/the-c...-

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

message 249: by Matt (new)

Matt Harry | 4 comments Hi everyone! I'm Matt Harry, author of SORCERY FOR BEGINNERS. It's about a 13 year-old boy who finds an easy-to-read, how-to manual for magic. Now he has to prevent everyone else from stealing it.

SORCERY FOR BEGINNERS is available for pre-order here:

https://www.inkshares.com/books/sorce...

We sold 73 copies in the first week, but we need to keep it going! Anyone who buys a copy in the first month will get a FREE, special bookmark that plays a key role in the novel. Harry Potter fans will love it.

Thanks for taking a look!
