checking in.
I'd pretty much abandoned the idea of crowdfunding put my writing project on temporary hold after a lukewarm-at-best initial launch followed hard-at-heels by some heavyweight life disruption. But some continued lurking around here reading the interesting things you fine folk are up to, the recent restructuring and extension of the Inkshares setup, and a little niggling voice in the back of my head have convinced me to give this particular vehicle at least a little bit more of a shot. So... here I am!

I'm Kelsey Barthel, author of Beyond the Code.
I've been on Inkshares for a couple months now and have been getting good feedback from some cool people. Got told about this feed from Elbot Carmen and i'm liking what i see. I'm looking forward to some really insightful conversations.

I'm very new to Inkshares, but I'm very excited and hopeful that I'll be able to reach my goals. Looking forward to reading about what other people are up to and hopefully finding some new, interesting reads!

Thank you for inviting me, John!
I jumped on the Sword & Laser bandwagon yesterday with my novel, The Inhabitants: An Unremembered Life, and am nervous about the ride ahead of me. So hopefully this place will help calm my nerves a bit. I realize we have some Nerdist/S&L1 contest veterans in here.
Good to meet you all!
Welcome, Michael. I was in S&L1. It was a brutal time back then, but since then we have grown and incredible community with great resources for those new to Inkshares. Browse the group and you'll find some good ones. If I have some time, I'll put up a new thread aggregating some of the greatest hits for newcomers.
If you have any questions about the process, feel free to tweet at me @joeterzieva or email me at joe.terzieva@gmail.com. I'm wrapping up my own book this month, but I will do my best to respond.

I'm Joseph (normally Joe, but we got one of them around here already!), author of "The Animal in Man." I signed up with Inkshares to post my book last night, just to see how doing so would make me feel... and then that Maya Angelou quote melted me like superheated air. I've struggled to find the time and endurance to write The Animal in Man for a long time, and that quote helped me realize that I can, in fact, get rid of this burden by just doing it!
Yeah, I tend to ramble. Anyhow, that was my first impression of this whole experience. I'm glad to find there's a place here where we can all share more. Looking forward to hearing (commiserating? celebrating?) how this Inkshares process goes for us all. Looking forward to it!

Ok that was just a bit too Australian wasn't it? I'm Julian, Jules or Hey you, one half of the collaboration, that is behind Suffrage - The First World Key, entered into Sword and Laser.
I have to say I really feel unprepared for this comp, but I've learned that life throws challenges at you, and frequently they are opportunities in disguise so Finn and I are cranking it up and giving it our all.
Good luck to everyone in the competition, I can see that we have our work cut out for us to get into the top five.
Cheers
Julian

and my novels are The Second Coming Of Hell and In a World of Darkness
thanks for letting me in on this group!

Great to see so many Inkshares authors in this Goodreads community. I'm Matthew (Matt is cool too), author of "The Last Machine in the Solar System" and "California's Lost Gold," an illustrated poetry collection.
I've had the good fortune to communicate with some of you already on Inkshares, or through email and Twitter. I really should have checked in here sooner - sorry about that! Looks like so much great info for us new to the Inkshares game.
Looking forward to sharing and learning!

I only discovered Inkshares a few weeks ago but I'm rather fond of the concept. I am very interested in media because of the influence it can have, but also am always seeking ways to innovate and subvert the pre-existing models. I work within the field as a freelance journalist for places such as The Guardian and Vice and also have been involved in some activist projects with focuses on media literary and alternative media funding models. Inkshares looks like it has a lot of potential and I believe the best way to encourage these projects is to participate so I'm looking forward to doing just that. I'm currently funding my book "Illegal"on the platform:

Nice to meet everyone!

Hi Darcy! Since I can't find anything in your post indicating you are publishing with Inkshares or interested in publishing with Inkshares, I invite you to re-post your promotion here:

I've been writing since I was a kid, but it wasn't until I turned 40 a few years ago that I decided it was now or never. If I didn't start taking it seriously, I never would. Since then I've had a few short stories published, and I released the first season of my serial, Ash & Flame, this year.
I work in IT during the day, and then struggle to reheat my brain at night so I can work on a hopeful writing career.
It's so great to find this community, and I have been encouraged by the conversations and support that I've already seen by so many authors. I wish you all the best of luck, and if I can help, please let me know!

Hi Roy! This group is for potential, past, and current Inkshares authors. Are you in one of those categories?
Thanks!

I encourage you to explore the Inkshares website to see how the process works. I don't work for Inkshares; I am just an author trying to get published. My book, She Is the End, will be published in the Quill collection, which uses Createspace for print-on-demand order fulfillment.

My name is Anandita. Author of 'Vengeance- A Bitter Truth of Life' (Short story) and 'A Subtle Touch'.
I am new to Inkshare group. Can someone please help me with how to go about discussing things here.
I would like to know how I can promote my books here without breaking the rules.
Thanks.

I'm S.J. Petersen, Author of 'JT Stevensen and the agents of Vermillion'.
The world of writing is something new to me, in the fact that I am putting it out there for everyone to read. Overwhelming, but fascinating. I am happy to see such a community of authors here and look forward to see how Inkshares evolve.

New to Goodreads and this group so it might take me a while to figure it all out but there seems to be a lot of good information here.
Also I'm on Twitter: https://twitter.com/whowantsdinner
And here's my blog (mostly about surfing and food): http://surfdudefood.blogspot.com
Getting close to the end of my campaign with 63 pre-orders needed to get to Quill, so any help in that direction most appreciated, and if I have credits I will surely reciprocate. Thanks all!

Obviously, I'm extremely motivated to get my own work in other people's hands. But I also want to help as many people here as I humanly, possibly can along the way (and not just during my own campaign). It's tough out there to sell a book that you can't pick up and show people, and every little bit of support helps. So reach out to me and I'll help however I can. Don't care if you've sold book 249/749 and need one last push or you're at 0 on day 1 and need some moral support to get started. Or even just in the draft/idea stage. I've been grateful to the support I've seen during my first two weeks and I want to reciprocate that and then some.
Obviously, you can find me on here -- but twitter (billyok) and email (billyok@mac.com) work as well.

took Thomas J Arnold's advise and joined. My name is Jonathan, aspiring author of "And the Wolf Shall Dwell". this is set out to be fictional espionage/thriller.. about 2/3 written but still a long way to go. would be great if u can visit the book page and comment (only two chapters there at the moment)
Many thanks to everyone! Jon

I have my first book up on Inkshares, a 1920s cosy murder mystery - https://www.inkshares.com/books/death....
I haven't decided when I should go into the funding round, the process seems a bit intimidating. For now I'm working on the second book in the series while continuing to edit the first.

My 1920s mystery (sure, I guess it qualifies as a "cosy" but how cosy can a club full of PTSD-riddled WW1 veterans be?) is "Murder at the Vet"

I mean we only sort of met - I didn't mean to imply that I was only sort of happy to meet you, if that's what you thought. Language is tricky stuff.
When I joined Inkshares, there were only thirty projects on the site. They hadn't published anything yet and three books had been successfully funded.
I got hold of everyone's email address and wrote to them and said we needed to all collaborate and help make each other successful. Only one writer wrote back and he is long gone.
Glad to see my original vision of a network of collaborators eventually came true though!

Now that's funny!

Well that's delightfully descriptive lol.

I'm the author of 'The bully book' by Bryn Hagan. Here' s me on inkshares:
https://www.inkshares.com/books/the-b...

I feel like I did but can't see it, so maybe not.
Plenty of familiar names on here already. Hi guys.
I am funding "Children of the Wise Oak" a tale of Celtic brothers embarking on a lifelong quest against the Roman empire.
It is fantasy but firmly embedded in genuine history. All known historical events happen as they should.
Book 2 will focus on a female character (Gwenn) from the first book, although it won't completely ignore the other characters.
The concept seems to be growing without my permission into a nine volume epic. It scares me, and a part of me wants the funding to fail.
But don't listen to that part.

Hey Aleyna! Are you considering publishing on Inkshares? The idea of asking readers for character ideas before starting your book is definitely new and different, and something that Inkshares could probably accomodate. They allow you to post ideas and drafts, and a lot of authors offer to include readers themselves in their books as a prize for pre-ordering.
If you want to try publishing your fanfiction, though, I'm not actually sure if Inkshares allows that or how the legality of it would work. Welcome, in any case!
