John Robin (john_robin) | 299 comments Welcome, Sam! So glad you're here. And yes, we're all doing our legwork to reach out to as many authors as possible so you can come add to this rolling snowball that is becoming the author force of Inkshares.

♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (tabi_card) Hallo! I'm considering Inkshares for my work and I'm wondering if this group is open to people like me, or do you have to have an Inkshares account and/or promotion running to participate?

John Robin (john_robin) | 299 comments Hi Tabi,

This group is open to authors in all stages, in fact I think it's great that you're joining here where you haven't actually started a project yet, because this is a great place to get information to help you prepare. Welcome, and please jump into any discussion you'd like to!

I think this is an excellent place for you to ask questions, at the very least! I don't think there'd be much point in your participating on lots of threads if you aren't an Inkshares author - that's the sum of our group - but ask questions and we'll do our best to answer them.

You can always just email the Inkshares staff directly, too - they're very nice.

(ETA: John says yes and John is Papa Bear, so you're in!)

message 105: by ♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (new)

♠ TABI⁷ ♠ (tabi_card) Yay, okay! Thing is, I've been writing since forever and only a few weeks ago self-published a novella on Amazon Kindle but my goal has been to catch the eyes of traditional publishers/agents BUT since I've always wanted a good hold over my work (contracts have never rubbed me the right way) then as of a few hours ago I saw this group and since then have been researching everything Inkshares! And so far I'm highly interested and am definitely considering it!

(John: thanks for the acceptance =D)

Wamuhu Mwaura (ashthepoet) | 6 comments Hamjambo (Swahili for "hello"),

My name is Wamuhu Mwaura, author of "The Northern Divide" -- a high fantasy adventure which incorporates mythopoeia in the style of the greats (and despite the fact that I hate spoilers... there will be elements of science fiction incorporated into the story -- in the sense of multiple dimensions and certain aspects of steam/cyberpunk). I really do love a good mash-up.

CoRy | 28 comments Well, well, well, this is incredible insanity (incredsantly? Awful, scratch that)

My name is Cory Wyszynski, the capital R is my rebirth in a way. My body nearly shut down in 2013 and said, "Nope, we no longer will take this thing you call sleep", a couple times leading to 8 days in a row of no sleep. Moving on. I am the writer of U-Turn At Next Synapse. A friend's Mom suggested C.P. Wyszynski as my handle, so voila. There it is, uhh. That is my author name is what I am...failing at trying to (scratches head and leaves the room)

My name is Brien some of you many know me from my book, I Think You Dropped This, others may know me from me thinking I'm funnier than I am on twitter. Don't ask me why it took me so long to get into the group... I have no answer. You can find me here: @thatbrien on twitter or at my book's page: https://t.co/gFXLCJM659

Cheers!

Then I would take all of you guys to a resturant at the end of the universe to see the imminent destruction of everything before making a joke about hyperspace bypasses and coconuts. They are not related, but I was guaranteed that it's funny.

Jessie White | 26 comments Hi all!! I'm Jessie (don't answer to Jessica since I only hear that when I'm in trouble which is shockingly often) I'm the author of Dangerous Beauty and am insanely happy to have found this group. I've been writing this project for 8 years and had no other author friends or even foes to talk to about it. So much more fun having people to talk to that don't go cross-eyed while talking about creating characters for new stories!!! Anyway.... OH I'm on Inkshares as J.M. White my son said Jessie didn't sound like an author name and I've learned you listen to your 3 year old when they say stuff like that......

Melinda Crouchley (authormelindacrouchley) | 2 comments Hi All - I'm your resident newbie (for the next 24 hours or so). My name is Mindy Crouchley.

Just dropping in to say hi and introduce myself. I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. I am a geeky mom who works full time in Communications for two local nonprofits.

So I do love me some marketing. Especially the guerilla style. Having a tangible product to market is a bit different than marketing a fundraiser or spearheading a campaign, so this is kind of exciting.

I really want to make t-shirts and buttons and spray chalk sidewalks but I guess I have to build a fanbase first. Or does that help build the fanbase?

Whatever. After spending years on the attending side of cons - I'm excited at the prospect of perhaps tabling at one and peddling my creative wares to the general public.

Metal Heart is my YA dystopian series first installment. Filled to the brim with terrorism, nanotechnoloy, a lemon zest of romance, and a deadly virus. Check it out here: https://www.inkshares.com/projects/me...

message 123: by Harv (new)

Harv | 3 comments Hello!

Name's Harv. Really glad I found inkshares, it is a grand idea that fits where writing, publication and exposure feels like it should be going as time passes. I really love the concept of Writer's gathering to help and push and learn from one another.

Currently writing a couple of novels (The Reach and Mother. Data.I) on Inkshares though I'm in no particular rush to get them into funding. Takes time I understand that and I want them to come out right and true to my wants.

Looking forward to interacting with the community more and getting a feel for everyone's ideas.

My name is Shivkumar from Pondicherry, India. I have recently published a book of short stories EMPTY FISTS" in my pen name MANGALAM SHIVA. The stories are emotional, thought provoking and convey social messages to the readers.
The book has received exciting reviews from the readers in Facebook/Amazon.com/Amazon.in/Goodreads. 2 of the readers have posted in Goodreads, Valicity Garris on 21st September 2015 & Bookaholic_Kim on 27th September 2015, very realistic comments on the stories in my book. Thanks. Shivkumar.

Hi Mangalam,

This group is designed to support authors on the Inkshares platform. (https://www.inkshares.com/) Please do not use the forums to promote your work if you do not have any interest in using the platform.

If you are interested, the group welcomes you. Please check out some of the other threads and enjoy.

Sean Gallagher | 24 comments Hi everybody. I didn't know about this group until the contest was almost over, and it seems I am still behind schedule seeing as I have posted elsewhere but still not gotten around to the Introduction until now. Sigh.

My name is Sean Gallagher and I am the author of Mysts of Mythos. My story is a historical fantasy. I'm influenced by Tolkien, Jordan, Llewellyn, Alexander, and Stirling among others. www.mystsofmythos.com @faolan on twitter. @mystsofmythos on instagram and mystsofmythos on tumblr and livejournal. Trying to figure out how to cross post to all of them all at once.

Patrick Jamison (patrick_jamison) | 17 comments Howdy all -- Patrick Jamison here (or Pat for short). I'm just in the idea stage right now while I do some research and clear my writing plate a little bit. My Inkshares project will be a James Rollins-style thriller with just a little more of a supernatural element than Rollins usually has. My story is The Ragnarok Stones.

Looking forward to integrating more with the community here and exploring what Inkshares has to offer!

Oh, and Twitter is @pat_jamison_ I think...

message 137: by Richard (new)

Richard Sloan | 3 comments I'm Richard Sloan, author of The Sorceress of Menlo Park, available on Kindle. Here is a one page summary:
The Sorceress of Menlo Park
By Richard Sloan
Available on Kindle

Since childhood, Joanne's scientific achievements have brought her both praise as 'The Goddess of Natural Forces' and condemnation as 'The Evil Impulse.' She calls herself 'Sorceress'; others call her 'Forbidden Grapes', 'Jezebel', 'Bad Girl', and more. Now twenty three years old, she is developing a microchip forebrain implant to cure a neuromuscular disease. Her project is the First Wave for the B.A.A.L.S. (Bay Area Alliance for Life Sciences), a Consortium of Big Money and Special Interests. If she succeeds, dozens more innovative projects will follow.
However, she is opposed by the United Front Coalition, which is frightened by the dangers, such as mind control, Frankenstein monsters, and the Beast of Revelations. The Coalition members include 'The Wrath of God' - a modern day Prophet Elijah, 'The Red Scourge' - a bioethicist who has stopped many risky projects in their tracks, the arch feminist 'Sisters of Gaia', who consider Joanne a traitor to her gender, 'The Regulator' - a U.S. Senator and possible future president, 'The Deacon' - the chief negotiator for a major labor union, 'Mr. Credibility' - a Stanford University Nobel Prize winner, 'The Loose Cannon' - a reporter embedded in the Coalition, and 'The Dealmaker' - a venture capitalist set on vengeance and power.
The Coalition members confront Joanne in a series of public debates with an intensive discussion of the issues. These include, among others: How far should scientists be allowed to go?, Are we God's children, or God's co-creators?, and How can we save our humanity?. At the same time, the Coalition resorts to stalking and smearing Joanne and interfering in her troubled marriage to 'The Prince' - the scion of one of America's wealthiest, most powerful families. But the more they attack Joanne, the stronger she gets. Can they stop her? Will the Sorceress divide and conquer them first?

James (jamesmaltby) | 6 comments Hello all. I am James and I've just joined after being recommended by John Robin through inkshares. I have a lot of writing background, but have not yet written a novel, which is my hope. I have pitched three potentials (a Sci-Fi and two Fantasy books) and hope to glean enough interest to galvanize me into writing them (after years of writing I understand I need a reader and a deadline in order to focus!).

message 147: by Mykl (new)

Mykl Walsh (RFSaunders) | 149 comments James, I was referring to my own reluctance to include a link to the Inkshares Anthology project I'm inviting you to submit to - unsure if this is an appropriate thread.

There are other threads specifically set up for self-promotion.

Hopefully Joe will respond again and clear up if this thread is a proper place for any of these links.

If it is Inkshares related, you can share your projects here in the context of introduction. The moderators want to facilitate Inkshares writers getting the word out about their work. We've just had to be more explicit because we were getting a lot of writers that had no interest in Inkshares promoting their work in multiple threads.

You can also promote Inkshares related content here in this folder https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

and this thread for non-Inkshares related content. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
