Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) | 11205 comments There are two layers to deciding if a book you want to read will work for the SRC:

1. Does the book fit the general SRC rules

AND

2. Does the book fit the task

If you haven't already done so, you should read the most current Rules of the Challenge in the Rules folder.

Please remember that task creators are only responsible for checking that books fit the specific requirements of their individual tasks. They are NOT responsible for verifying that a book fits all the general requirements of the SRC. If you ask a task creator about a book that violates the general rules, it doesn't matter if the task creator approves the book in the help thread. The book will not be accepted for points.

Every task (with the exception of 20.10) has a thread in the Task Help folder. If you are unsure whether a book will fit a task, please ask about the suitability of the book in the appropriate Task Help thread. There are two pages of help threads. Help threads may be sorted numerically by clicking on the "Topics" heading.

It is up to each individual participant to make sure the book you want to read fits the general rules of the SRC. If you have questions about whether a specific book is acceptable under the general rules, you should ask in the General Help Thread, which is located at the top of the Task Help folder.

If you are concerned that a required genre will disappear from the book's main page by the time you read and claim the book, you can get pre-approval for the genre in the Genre Verification Thread, which is also located at the top of the Task Help folder. The notation of genres in the Genre Verification Thread does not ensure fit for a specific task. You can also ask for pre-approval for genres in the individual help thread.
