Yeah, this is a really cool idea for a Read-A-Thon!

message 11: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 139 comments Thanks Robin! My favourite colour is blue. Of your list of 5 star reads I think I'm going to read Fahrenheit 451 during the read-a-thon.

Here are the books I rated 5 star that are on your to-read list:

Acid by Emma Pass Steelheart (Reckoners, #1) by Brandon Sanderson Four A Divergent Story Collection (Divergent, #0.1 - 0.4) by Veronica Roth

and here are a couple that aren't (but that I'd recommend):

The Animals of Farthing Wood by Colin Dann The Tell-Tale Heart and Other Writings by Edgar Allan Poe The Rithmatist (The Rithmatist #1) by Brandon Sanderson Boys Don't Cry by Malorie Blackman Kat, Incorrigible (Kat, Incorrigible, #1) by Stephanie Burgis Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson

As for the second challenge do you fancy buddy-reading Cinder?

These Violent Delights (Robin) | 1236 comments Mod
Cinder would be great Sophie! I was planning on reading it September anyways.

& I think I'll read Acid.

As for a blue cover, I'll read: The Selection (The Selection, #1) by Kiera Cass

As for the 1st Challenge, here are 3 books I'd like to read that you could choose from:

Exquisite Captive (Dark Caravan Cycle, #1) by Heather Demetrios Forbidden (Forbidden, #1) by Kimberley Griffiths Little Snow Like Ashes (Snow Like Ashes, #1) by Sara Raasch

What 3 books would you like me to choose 1 for you from?

I don't mind being your buddy! Only I can't see your profile because it's private...

message 14: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 139 comments Cinder it is! I'll send you a message so we can decide how many pages to read a day (rather than spamming this thread).

From your 3 picks, I pick Snow Like Ashes for you Robin. Here are my three:
At Yellow Lake by Jane McLoughlin Face by Benjamin Zephaniah Rebel Angels (Gemma Doyle, #2) by Libba Bray

As for my purple book I haven't quite decided what I'm going to read. Possibly
Awful Auntie by David Walliams

I've added you as a friend now Ali. :) That's funny because I'm 14 too and I've never had anything from Goodreads saying my account should be private. Weird.

For the first challenge, these are my three books for you to pick from:

Kat, Incorrigible (Kat, Incorrigible, #1) by Stephanie Burgis Murder Most Unladylike (Wells and Wong, #1) by Robin Stevens The Shock of the Fall by Nathan Filer

As for the buddy read, I don't mind buddy-reading any of these:

The Archived (The Archived, #1) by Victoria Schwab The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black The Iron Trial (Magisterium, #1) by Cassandra Clare An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes, #1) by Sabaa Tahir and if you're up for a re-read I haven't read Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass, #2) by Sarah J. Maas yet, so that could be fun.

What's your favourite colour? Mine's green.

Looking forward to when this readathon starts!

Do any of your friends or family read Roseena? You could ask one of them to be your buddy. :)

message 22: by Ali (new)

Ali (aliglathyniusherondalelewis) | 10 comments Hey daisy,

For the first challenge, i have to see from my school library because, unfortunately, my mother says that i can only buy 3 books a month! But im leaning towards Kat, Incorrigible...

However, for the second book, i'm up for crown of midnight. I absolutely loooooooove the book

Also, for the first challenge , these aremy 3 books you can choose from

(I dont know how to put a picture here on an ipad :) )

1. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
2. Absolutely any of the books by cassandra clare
3. Paper Towns by John Green (I havent read it though!)

Also my favourite colour is blue

For challenge no. 4, i would pick...

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (I have to refresh my mind, I havent read this book in a long time!)

Good Luck!!!!!

message 23: by Roseena (new)

Roseena Peralta (roseenaperalta) my family and friends don't really read. which is why I joined good reads lol

message 24: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 471 comments Mod
Crown of Midnight would be great, Ali! I will get the ebook tomorrow, do you have a copy? Once we both have one we should be able to work out how many pages/chapters we're going to read per day. :)

Oh, for the first challenge, I think it just means I give you three books and you pick one for me to read, so you won't need a copy. Or at least that's how I think it works. For you can I pick Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare? It sounds quite unique and I've heard it's a great trilogy. If not I'd go with Paper Towns.

That's awesome that you're reading Deathly Hallows! I need to reread that series at some point but haven't got around to it yet. I think I'll read The Magician by Michael Scott for the fourth challenge. I read the first book last year and I've been meaning to pick up this one.

Thanks! You too!

Yay, thank you! I'm so looking forward to read Kat. It's been on my to-read forever.

My edition of Crown of Midnight is 418 pages, so the only way I can see us reading it all in the week is by reading 100 pages a day, then from there going to the end of whichever chapter we're on. It's quite a lot, I know, but I guess we'll just have to try our hardest! That would mean on the first day we'd go to the end of chapter 13. Is that okay with you? Let me know when you're ready to start.

Ah, that's a shame. Goodreads is certainly useful for that.

Woo! I love Kat, Incorrigible!

message 29: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 139 comments I only have 3 hours left of Day 1 of the #BookBuddyAThon so I'm going to update my progress here. So far I've read 56 pages of Cinder and 72 pages of Rebel Angels. I'm hoping to get a little more of Rebel Angels read before I go to bed though so fingers crossed I can get to page 100 before tomorrow.

message 30: by Ali (new)

Ali (aliglathyniusherondalelewis) | 10 comments Hey Daisy,

Does have to be in order because maybe we can begin crown of midnight tonight, tomorrow for you, i think? And then we can begin the rest of the books.
Good Luck!
And you can begin right now.
(I know I have a head start, I'm sorry but I need to start now of i am going to fininsh it.)
I gotta do a lot of hmwk now, see ya!!!!!

message 31: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 471 comments Mod
Hey Ali,

No, I don't think we have to read them in order (well I haven't been anyway!), but starting Crown of Midnight now sounds like a good idea. Shall I come back and tell you when I've read the first one hundred pages, and when you have too we can continue on with the book, and we can do it like that? Or were you thinking of doing it a different way? Haha, good luck with your homework! :)

message 32: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 139 comments Day 3 of the #BookBuddyAThon.

I'm 163 pages into Rebel Angels (Gemma Doyle, #2) by Libba Bray , I've finished Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury and I'm 164 pages into Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer .

How are you guys getting on?

Wow, looks like you're doing well, Sophie! Yesterday I got a bit behind on my schedule but I think I'm doing okay overall.

Oh, and, Ali, I've now read the first 100 pages of Crown of Midnight, how are you getting on? So far it's a lot better than the first and I'm really enjoying reading it. I'm excited to see where the story goes!

Sophie | 139 comments I finished my second book yesterday! Awful Auntie by David Walliams and I started Medusa the Mean (Goddess Girls, #8) by Joan Holub . So I have now started all 5 of my #BookBuddyAThon reads and it's just a matter of seeing which ones I can finish over the remaining two days.

message 37: by Sophie (new)

Great job, Sophie. I only managed to read three of my books...

The Tales of Beedle the Bard by J.K. Rowling - This was a reread and I rated it 3 stars.

The Magician (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #2) by Michael Scott - I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would and gave it 4 stars.

Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass, #2) by Sarah J. Maas - It was 11:30 at night on the last day but I finished it! I rated this 4 stars.

I also got 284 pages read of New Moon (Twilight, #2) by Stephenie Meyer , but as I didn't finish it I didn't even start Kat, Incorrigible (Kat, Incorrigible, #1) by Stephanie Burgis . But I'm going to try and finish New Moon within the next week or so, and then I'll read Kat, Incorrigible anyway.

I'm happy with what I managed to get read but I also think I was a bit ambitious with my goals and probably should have planned it out a bit better. Still, this readathon was a lot of fun and thanks for being my buddy, Ali! :)
