Plot Problems...

What do you mean by the wrong character under the same name? And what are some more details about the type of book you have in mind?
Well there are 2 Giuliano de Medici's and it expected it to be Giuliano di Piero (the cool one) but it was Giuliano di Lorenzo, Duke of Nemours (not as cool)So my character is Giuliano di Piero de Medici.
And the plot is half there and half not. This is what I want it to be like...
Around 1477 Sandro Botticelli had been drawing sketches for his illustrations of the Divine Comedy. Giuliano sees the sketches and is interested - and he knows that Dante once lived in Florence so he goes out and seeks some knowledge. And he learns some great secret and wants to know more, and he begins to solve this mystery and just as he's on the verge of discovery, he goes to church on Easter and is murdered.
Well you have a good central idea. Now all you need are some interesting sub-plots and intriguing co-starring characters. I'm supposed Lorenzo will be one, correct? And you'll probably want at least two more supporting main characters. In most books, one would also be of the opposite gender. I know that you probably know all of that, so I would just try my hardest to get some good ideas for filler and sub-plots. Try listing as many possibilities as possible, especially ones that may not seem logical to you. They make the best plot twists!!!

You know that quote "if you want to read a book but it hasn't been written yet, you have to write it yourself"? Yes, so I've been looking for a book and I can't find it (I got close but it was the wrong character under the same name!) and so I decided to take matters into my own hands and start writing my own.
But I can't come up with a plot.
What should I do??? It's historical fiction and all I can think of is taking the character out of his time and bringing him here. Please help!
