That's the point of the book. It's hundreds of years later and we're still fighting wars, and it shows all the horrible sides of it. And even though the war ends in the last book, there will probably be another war sometime in the next century, because that is human nature.

The Hunger Games is better, in my opinion. The idea of The Hunger Games is more complex and thought out than Divergent. Katniss is a deeper character (and less annoying and stupid) than Tris. The dystopian setting of The Hunger Games seems more realistic than Divergent, too. The more I think about it, the more I see how stupid the Divergent setting is. I mean, isn't it normal--isn't it HUMAN--for someone to have more than one dominant character trait?

2. You should know the books are usually better than the movie and that you can't really judge the book if... you know, you haven't read it. At least you're implying you haven't read them.
3. Katniss is a bit annoying in Mockingjay, but she certainly isn't a shallow person overall. Tris is, based on her actions in Divergent (I haven't even read the rest of the Divergent series yet but I quit it after the fist book)

Actually, if you had paid any attention in the Divergent book series, you would see that it explains why most people have one dominant trait. It's because of an experiment and a war from years before that left people genetically damaged. The undamaged ones are the Divergent. I don't remember how they explain why some people are divergent while others aren't, but they probably explain it in some way that has to do with genetics. Although it's kind of complex, because some people may seem to be divergent, but they're really not, such as Tobias. So, yeah, that's why the setting includes people with one dominant trait. It's because where live, Chicago, is the setting of one of the experiments to try to bring the human race back into a working society.
Although, I do agree that Katniss is a more put together character than Tris. Hunger Games is definitely better, because the characters aren't as two dimensional as the Divergent characters, and the plot is more put together as well. It includes more detail. The Divergent series is great, though, especially for young adult readers.

Yes, but the series is aimed at younger readers, and those younger readers don't like watching the news or reading the newspaper, so to get them more interested in topics such as war and politics, you have to give them this fictional story about war to fuel their interest, and then maybe later on they will start to educate themselves in real life news situations.
And also, can you seriously stop hating on everything? I mean, I know there's some stuff that you just don't like, but you don't have to be all rude about it. I have stuff that I don't like, too, but I don't go off and say it's the worst thing in the world and that no one should like it, which I know you're not saying, but your attitude is implying it. I let people like what they want and try to find something good to say about it. It's really not that hard to find something good to say. You should try it sometime.

They don't want to read about it because they're too damned absorbed in their own lives AND the fictional horse hockey of c**p like DIVERGENT. They think "Why should it matter TO MY LIFE if French cartoonists were killed by terrorists?" Or at least that's what I have personally observed of the younger generation.
There's only ONE good thing about this "genre," IMO: They're reading. Maybe if the parent's literally knocked the earbuds out of the kids ears once in awhile and actually TALKED to their kids, the kids would also start THINKING and QUESTIONING.... . And I mean WITHOUT media distractions like their OWN phones, Facebook...whatever. Even as teenagers, kids are "monkey see, monkey do" to put it mildly. Parents should NEVER doubt the influence over their kids that they DO have nor should they ever SQUANDER it.
BlackStar: *sticks her tongue out at you and gives you a "Bronx cheer"* I ALSO like playing Devil's Advocate... which is mostly what my so-called "attitude" is about.
For those of you unfamiliar with my "Bronx Cheer" reference, an example can be seen here, at the :42 to :47 section: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTM48...

everything, Harper. The reason it may seem like it to you is that I do not often write reviews.I do not recall ever implying that other people couldn't like dystopian novels. I may have done so, but I don't remember doing so.
That said, I may have implied that I think people who do like dystopians are lacking in judgement, taste, or both. And I do apologize for that, but I am extremely opinionated. (To put it mildly.)

I just called that editor of The History of the 21st Century. He said this horrifying tragedy will be in the next book.

I'm not saying it's important to have war, I'm saying it's an important issue that war must end.
