I'm still not quite sure what Mercenaries are...
Ah. But, in Lakeville, there are no Mercenaries, right? There's only nineteen people...
But you aren't confined to live in only one town. You're always available for hire anywhere.
Sure, clothing may not be your top priority, but you don't want that armor to rip and break, now, do you?
Cook
Food is essential. People who make food are therefore essential.
Physician
Unless you are one skilled cat, that mutated dog bite you got there will need the attention of a physician.
Hunter
There are still deer and such out there, so men(and women) are needed to catch them for eating. They also catch fish.
Farmer
Most of these people grow crops, but a few of them tend to cows and pigs.
Teacher
Those kids need to grow to be smart, you dig? Aside from those who already have it, the poor people of this wasteland need education.
Mercenary
Well, it's a dark and dangerous world out there. These folk can be hired during your trek through the wilderness, or you know, if someone really hates you.
Butcher
Those cows aren't gonna chop themselves!
Town Guard
Most of these towns have protection, and they're right to do that. But you can never have too many guards!
Carpenter
Shelter is a necessity out here. Unless you can somehow do it yourself, you'll need a 'professional'.

Of course, there are many people who can do all of the above and then some. But like the glory of pre-war time, experts are always needed.
