I'm loving it so far! Thanks for the good wishes!

Judith - Did you like it? I have that book, and keep putting it on my monthly to read list, but other things keep coming up."

Do you mean "Captian Corelli..." or "Grapes of Wrath"?
I realized after re-reading your comment that I was not sure. I loved Corelli. Grapes, not so much.

Judith (jloucks) | 1202 comments Denise wrote: "Good for you Judith, Grapes has been on my TBR forever. I won't be getting to it anytime soon though.

I just started "Go Down, Moses" by William Faulkner."

I've loved everything I've ever read by Faulkner, and I've read the majority of his novels. I hope you like him too.

Perhaps, but the whole book has an eery feeling to it, as such a story needs to be fully engaging. I loved it!

Caterina | 16 comments About to start this month's book (The Midwich Cuckoos) - I'd never even heard of it and I'm really looking forward to it.

message 2156: by Deanne (new)

Deanne | 681 comments Dr Zhivago, only 80 pages and I love the way it's written, I've never seen the film so I don't have that rolling around in my head. Saying that I see Yura as Omar Sharif.

Charity - I really enjoyed Sons and Lovers; and I look forward to hearing what you think about it. This novel got me interested in DH Lawrence, so I read immediately afterward and was disappointed. Women in Love has been sitting on my bookshelf now for a few years, I have been wanting to read it but have somehow managed not to.

Joy (joyousnorth) Ashley wrote: "I'm about 50 pages into Breakfast of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut. Not sure if this is on both 1001 lists, but I'm loving it so far! It's probably the most vulgar/explicit book I've read ..."

Breakfast of Champions was the first Vonnegut novel I read and it made me fall in love with him! I went on to devour many more Vonnegut novels after that...

K.D. Absolutely (oldkd) | 248 comments Just started with Spring Snow by Yukio Mishima. I find it a very light read. It helps that I read 3 Murakami's novels (Wind-Up Bird Chronicles, Sputnik Sweetheart and Kafka on the Shore) so the Japanese words, phrases and setting are already familiar to me.

I started on this a couple of years ago, but I just couldn't finish it. However, I still think about it from time to time, and I have considered to give it a try again some day. I would like to know what you think about it!
