Keep going it is worth it. There is quite a lot of symbolism going on though, but don't be put off! And remember Oskar is an unreliable narrator.

If I finish Daemon by Daniel Suarez today then I'll start City of God tomorrow. I'm getting nervous because I keep reading mixed reviews on City of God. It seems to be a very polarizing book. Either you love it your you hate it.

The wife absolutely loved it, as did a girlfriend. I'm about 70-ish pages into it (slow reader) and not feeling it yet.

Oh, I just started The Thirteenth Tale about a week ago and I love it! I'm about 150 pages into it.. it's kind of weird, but it's absolutely great... let me know what you think of it so far.. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.. where did you hear about it? On the list? I didn't see it on there...

I am sorta enjoying it, I'm about 80-ish pages into it right now. If I didn't hear it from this book club group then i would've probably gotten it from The Complete Idiots Guide to the Ultimate Reading List group. Same sort of book, much shorter list. A lot of repeats. Between that list and this list I developed my to-read list, plus it gets me reading lots of things I otherwise would skip participating in the group reads.

I finished Rebecca last month and was sorry I didn't read it earlier in life. It really is a masterpiece. The author's use of the house and its surroundings as a character is really cool. Enjoy!

The Master and Margarita is one of my favorite books of all time, but I recommend an annotated edition if you can find one (unless you have extensive academic knowledge of Biblical lore). It's a darkly funny, and at times "trippy" story, but there are a lot of allusions I wouldn't have understood without the footnotes.

I'm 71 pages into City of God for April 15 and starting to enjoy it but I've been more excited to get my nose back into other books on the list. I'm also still re-reading The House in Paris, though why I'm not sure; the discussion has never been terribly lively.

It's taken me about 50 pages to City of God. something keeps pulling me back to it but I haven't decided whether I'm enjoying it or not.
