Which LIST book did you just start?
Started Volume 5 of Proust's epic novel: In Search of Lost Time: The Prisoner and the Fugitive: Prisoner and the Fugitive v. 5As much as I enjoy Proust's writing, our narrator's jealousy is starting to make me crazy. :)
I've just started Moll Flanders by Daniel Defoe. As well as The Arabian Nights: Tales from a Thousand and One Nights, which I will very slowly work my way through.
Today I started The Hunchback of Notre-Dame on my Ipod, and I'm going to start readingThe Color Purple this week as well.
Dbolden wrote: "A bit behind those following the group reads but just started the Secret History by Donna Yartt and I LOVE IT! It's like an intellectual, hipster version of the Breakfast Club so far."I think that is a great comparison!!
Their Eyes Were Watching God. So far so good. A little tonimorrisonish... (or should I say Morrison is nealehurstonish?)
Lauli wrote: "Their Eyes Were Watching God. So far so good. A little tonimorrisonish... (or should I say Morrison is nealehurstonish?)"I agree.
Just started The Tenant of Wildfell Hall (yes, I'm a bit behind). It seems a little clunkier than Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights so far, but I'm still excited to be reading my first book by Anne!
Velma wrote: Although it's not a list book, if you like Trainspotting I recommend its sequel Porno. Darkly funny and more of Welsh's amazing ability to recreate regional accents in print. It's not? I was so sure that it's on the list.
I have read Porno as well years ago. I have to re-read it someday.
Just re-embarked on an epic Lord of the Rings journey. I had previously read the 'first' book and about 100 pages of the second, but that was quite awhile ago so I'm starting from scratch.
I've started The Hunchback of Notre-Dame. I keep starting list books and then moving on to something else. The trick is going to be for me to finish one.
Started The Electric Kool-Aid Test by Wolfe, a book about the 60's and with Ken Kesey, entertaining.
Picked up Zorba the Greek again after abandoning it around Christmas. It's going slow, this book is not for me. One of my father's favourite books though, so I'll finish it, eventually.
anyone reading about Kesey should check out Sometimes a Great Notion. It's one of my favorite books.
I just started on The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas...so far I am liking it. :)
Diniasih wrote: "i just started Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy :)"UGH. Anna Karenina. Just finished that one. That one was....horribly horrible.
I promised myself when I began working on this list in 2007 that I would re-read at least two of the classics I haven't read since college or high school every year. This year I've picked "Great Expectations" and "Moby Dick".
I started Moby-Dick a few days ago.
I`m going to the store today to buy 1984...and getting Gone with the Wind at the public libarary....

I, on the contrary, love it! :)
Deanne wrote: "Started The Electric Kool-Aid Test by Wolfe, a book about the 60's and with Ken Kesey, entertaining."I loved that book in high school.
Masanobu wrote: "Diniasih wrote: "i just started Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy :)"UGH. Anna Karenina. Just finished that one. That one was....horribly horrible.

That's another one on my to reread list. I loved Anna Karenina in high school.

I also loved Anna Karenina - it was my first Tolstoy and I found it surprisingly easy to read.
Just love Tolstoyl, liked Anna but loved W&P.Finished The Electric Kool-aid Test and started Main Street by Sinclair.

I ended up skimming it to finish it. It just lost my attention to really finish reading it detail by detail...
Dina wrote: "Just started The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver"That one was actually not that bad. It was a little slow, but I had to read it for summer reading, and it was suprisingly really good.

I've read positive critics about this book and some of my friends recommended it so I decided to read it. By the way I like books about places I've never been. So Congo is not my usual destination :)

I really enjoyed this book too. I thought the characters were extremely well developed. Loved the palindromes! :)
Lisa wrote: "I am getting ready to sit down & start Women In Love by DH Lawrence"Have you read The Rainbow? Women in Love continues the story of some of the characters from The Rainbow.
Dina wrote: "Just started The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver"Poisonwood was my least favorite of Kingsolver's books, and I still loved it - enjoy!

I do hope you grow to like it, Corina. I found the writing so unassuming yet so powerful. I love Trevor's books.
