Jacob held his finger out for the peacekeeper to take blood and continued on to his section to wait for the reaping. He'd managed to make it out of being reaped every year so far and he suspected that he would be again. He wouldn't have minded being reaped for the games, maybe even killed, if it wasn't for his siblings, who his dad had started to try to beat. He wouldn't let his father hurt them, he'd promised them and himself. With those thoughts his eyes shot to where his family stood. Usually the only one missing, but this year his brother was old enough to be reaped. He didn't know what to do if his brother was reaped, would he let him get hurt and possibly killed, or would he volunteer and leave the rest of his siblings to get hurt by his father? It was such a hard decision, but he knew he'd make the right decision if he was put in that situation.

((Since there's no escort, do you want to roleplay as him/her?))
((Sure!))
The sponsor stood on the stage watching as everyone filed in, tapping the mic once they were all in their respected areas. "Quiet down everyone" they said, waiting a moment before continuing. "As the tradition goes, you need to turn your attention to the big screen to watch the video." they said, moving to the side.
Jacob rolled his eyes and shoved his hands into his pockets as the short movie started. He had dressed oddly for the reaping as far as the "tradition" went. He wore ripped blue jeans and a dull plaid shirt over an old, faded grey T-Shirt. Seeing as most other people were dressed in their Sunday finest he stood out a bit, but he really didn't care. He just wanted this day to be over with so he could go home and ignore the games as he always did.

When the video finally ended, Amanda was beyond relieved, although her nervousness was creeping in again. To distract her, she picked at her old, fraying pink dress as the escort took the stage again, making a big flourish of the picking of names.
The escort read the name on the paper and looked up, their eyes scanning the groups. "The first tribute is Amanda Isabelle Rambin" They said, scanning the crowd again.
Jacob frowned and scanned the crowd for the poor girl who was being reaped, glad that it wasn't one of his sisters, though he did feel terrible for anyone who had to participate in the games. He hated the games and everything they stand for, especially throwing young kids into an arena to fight to the death. He would have understood i maybe adults did it, but then family's would be left without a parent... or two if both were reaped, but tearing kids away from their families and forcing their parents to watch them die on live television was cruel as well. There was no winning with the games, but there was no way to stop them. No one would even try.

Jacob watched the girl walk on stage, he recognized her from around town and the school. He knew she was young and she looked tiny, his heart dropped a bit but that was nothing compared to how far it dropped when he heard the escort call his name. He took a deep breath and walked through the crowd and up on stage, tensing and flinching a bit when the escort reached for him. He stopped the movement with a hard glare. Sucking in a breath he turned to the audience, seeking out the faces of his family shocked o see the scared expressions on the face of his father and mother. He brushed off the shock quickly though, knowing it was probably just an act. Next he searched for his siblings, forcing his face to be straight as he took in their tears.

((Anyone interesting going to visit Jacob? We could roleplay that))
((his siblings. but they'l be moved out quickly by their mother and his father will stay behind to talk to him))
Jacob sighed and walked to the room and flopped down in his chair, he expected his siblings to visit and he was hoping his father wouldn't want to. He just wanted to get on the train and get out of here, get through the games and hopefully emerge the victor so he could return and whisk his siblings off to the victors village, leaving his parents behind. Thinking about it that way made it seem so simple but when he though about how many people he'd have to kill he felt sick. So many people he didn't know that would die by his hand, the other girl... was her name Amanda?... would have to die by his hand. He isn't his father. He isn't ruthless. He wasn't sure if he could do it.

Lily clutched her older sister's hand as her and the rest of the family were led to the room by the peacekeepers. When the door's swung open, everything seemed to slow down for a moment as Jacob first cast a soft look at her and her siblings and a more steely one at her parents. She was the first one to move, letting go of Maryanne's hand and flinging herself into Jacob's arms, tears spilling onto Jacob's shirt. He was her oldest brother, always taking care of them and watching out for them when their parents didn't; and that was often. She couldn't believe this awful thing had happened, what were they going to do with him gone? How would their parents react? Instead of voicing these concerns, Lily cried harder as she felt Maryanne and Mark gather closer and pull into the hug as well. For a moment, Lily felt almost normal and comforted and her tears slowed to big, gulping breaths. She heard Mark say something about protecting her and Maryanne, and she was scared again, but refrained from getting even more emotional. Unfortunately, the moment didn't last very long before her parent's ordered them out of the room for a "nice chat" with Jacob. Lily quickly said her goodbye's as she was pushed out of the room.
"Jacob, I love you! Come back to u-" Lily was interrupted as the door shut in her face. She was scared for Jacob, especially since he was in there alone with their parents. She collapsed in Mark's arms and stayed there while her parent's did who knows what to Mark.
((Hope it was okay! And then you can start the conversation with the parents xD))
((Omg its perfect ^~^))
Jacob hugged his siblings tightly while he could, calling back I love you when they were ushered out before he turned to face his parents. His eyes and face were dry of tears. He knew that if he cried it would set his father off and he knew that if the tears needed to come, they'd come later. "What do you want?" He asked, his voice icier than his eyes as he flicked his gaze between his mother and his father. He was tense already from the reaping and he didn't thinks it was possible for his muscles o tense more but he was proved wrong as they did. He sat stretched out and looking relaxed in the chair but he was ready to move in any direction at any moment. Considering that he was going to face death not too long from now he felt as if he could hit his father back if it came to it. The peacekeepers wouldn't care. They hadn't cared for years. With another breath he shifted so he was siting straighter, a mix of anxiety, fear, and anger building in his gut while he waited for an answer. He wanted them gone. He didn't know why they were hanging around.

He didn't know why they were hanging around.

"Don't talk to your parents that way, boy," he scolded. His mother spoke up.
"We just wanted to wish our son goodbye. Is that a crime?" She asked, her voice unusually honey sweet, not at all sounding natural. In fact, she couldn't seem to wipe her wide smile off of her face. Jacob's father spoke again.
"We just wanted to let you know..." He trailed off -looking slightly pained- until his wife elbowed him the gut. "How...proud...we are." He forced out, the effort seemingly taking a lot out of him. Jacob's mother spoke next, as if they were on a tag team against Jacob.
"And we also wanted to make sure that you know what's going to happen while you're gone." Her voice still dripping honey, almost too sweet. "You WILL win the games. And you will come back to move us in to Victor's Village. And you will give your money in our," she gestured to herself and her husband, "Trusting hands."
"If you don't," Jacob's father picked up, almost as though they had been preparing for this speech for their whole lives. "If you die in that arena, you can say goodbye to any leniency we've allowed for your siblings and we'll have Mark sign up for the Tesserae ((is that how you spell it? xD)) and win for us. To bring our family all the riches we've ever wanted and the honor we deserve." His father finished with a sneer.
Jacob straightened, his body tensing more if it was possible. "Well you'll be happy to know that that's my plan. I'm not going to let you hurt them." He snapped, standing up and facing his father. "But if I find out that you've touched one of them while I'm gone I will snap your neck. I'm sure I'll finally have it in me after I kill twenty-three other people." He growled, his voice getting colder with every word. He couldn't bring himself to care if his father hit him now, he was going off to the games and whether or not he died, shit would eventually hit the fan. He could only hope that he'd survive and be able to protect his siblings. He wanted to do everything he could so they would never have to compete in the games or be hurt by his father. It was his job to protect them and take the beatings and he'd do whatever he could to keep it that way. He'd lead his parents to believe that they'd come to victors village with him if that's what they wanted to hear but that would never happen. "I think visiting time is over. You should leave now." He said, shoving his bands in his pockets again.

"You better be thankful I don't tear you a new one here and now for talking to us like that. But don't worry, if you do that at all when you get home, you'll get what you deserve." His father promised. Before grabbing his wife's hand and pulling her out the door.
Jacob snorted and watched them go, following the peace keeper that led him out of the room and towards the train, his body tight with rage as he walked. His eyes were dark as he kicked a rock all the way to the train and stepped inside, looking around with slight anger, though he found himself to angry to explore too much. He just found a seat and sat down, puffing his checks out.

Amanda walked out of her room at the prodding of a Peackeeper. Jacob seemed really tense and she wondered if she should try to talk to him. She decided against it when he kicked a rock and it shot all the way to the train and ricocheting off.
The train was quite possibly the fanciest place she had ever been. Jacob immediately dropped down into a chair, looking extremely pissed off. She made her way around the car they were in, examining everything, taking note of how breathtakingly beautiful everything was as well as its usefulness as a weapon. Once she had made her way around the car, only finding one thing that would be remotely effective as a weapon, she sank into the chair furthest from Jacob, as he still looked pretty steamed. She was immediately hit with a wave of fatigue. And these seats were definitely more comfy than her makeshift bed in the ally between the slaughterhouse and the abandoned house she couldn't force herself to enter. She felt her eyelid drooping slowly. Maybe she could doze off a little while? Jacob didn't seem like he was going to initiate any conversation soon and she didn't exactly know how far away the Capitol was or when someone would come and get them. A nap didn't seem like a very bad idea...
((I have no idea. I'll bring it up in the chat))
Jacob watched the other girl and frowned as she moved around the train, taking her time before she sat down and seemed to fall asleep he sighed and stretched his legs out, waiting for the mentor and the escort to board the train. He wanted to leave and get everything done and over with. He let his eyes drift to the girl again and frowned. He recognized her from somewhere, he just wasn't sure where. He shifted his weight and looked away, knowing it was probably dumb to try to make an alliance already but he wouldn't want her to get hurt and he knew the careers would go after someone as small as her pretty fast. With a sigh he stood and walked over to her, Gavin already forgotten her name "... Hey" he said, rolling his shoulders to release some of the tension. He didn't want to see angry with her. He needed to let it go, his parents were gone now.

((Kinda sounded like the Maze Runner at the end there xD))
Amanda tossed and turned as much as she could in the chair she was sitting in, obviously not in a restful sleep. She was startled when Jacob spoke, to say the least. She rocketed out of the chair she was sitting in and whirled back around towards Jacob so fast, she lost her balance and fell onto her butt. She looked around frantically before remembering where she was and shaking off the after effects of her dream. 'Nightmare' she amended her own thought before amending it once more. 'Flashback'
She gave Jacob an embarrassed smile as she stood back up and tried to slow her heart rate.
"Sorry about that. Just a bad dream." She rubbed the back of her neck as she let out a nervous chuckle, trying to dismiss what happened as something that didn't normally happen. In reality, it happened more times than Amanda cared to admit. She took a step closer to Jacob holding out her hand.
"I'm Amanda." She introduced herself, holding herself as confidently as she could considering what just happened.
Jacob carefully shook her hand and frowned. "Are you alright?" He asked, running a hand through his hair and tilting his head. "You look pretty pale." He said, shoving his hands into his pockets. He'd seen the same look on his sisters face after she had nightmares, though he didn't know how to help this stranger. He needed to distance her from his sister in his mind. He couldn't let himself get emotionally attached, though he knew he'd have a hard time. He had a protective streak and it wasn't about to end. ((Sorry for shortish replies lol))

"I'm Amanda." She said. "And you're Jacob, right?"
((Lol it's fine. This one is really short too. Sorry for the long waits. School has seriously been kicking me in the butt. I already want it to be over >.<))
