Debra Barstad This book is about a little boy that saves up to purchase two blood hounds. The story takes place in the ozarks and the time of the popular raccoon hunts. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes stories about animals and the bond that forms with their owners.

Jenny (pagelady) | 155 comments My son read this in, I think, 4th grade or so. It was so sad to him that (he's 21 now) he can't bear to hear the title mentioned!

Nicole I read this when I was in 5th grade for my English class. I loved it, but as others mentioned, it was very sad. I decided to read it again a few years ago and it was as good as I remembered, and just as sad. I would definitely recommend this book too!

Charity (faeryrebel78) This was one of my favorite childhood books. Great story but definitely sad. I bawl every time I read the book or watch the movie.
