message 268: by Terry (new) - rated it 3 stars

Terry | 5368 comments Sounds good to me. Have you guys read Swan Song by Robert McCammon? I'm reading along with that buddy read also.

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Yea it works for me Addy & nah I haven't heard of that book I'll have to check it out. I bought a few yesterday at the store for cheap I picked up some classics for $1 and I had to get the last book in the Strain series by Guillermo del Toro

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments I bought a new copy of the Exorcist & Rosemary's Baby & Clive Barker's Everville for 50€!!

message 271: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments 50 cents is a great deal! I've read the Exorcist and have the sequel, Legion, but haven't read it yet. I also have Rosemary's baby. I have read Swan Song Terry. It's very good. Drags in parts but def worth it! I think you'll enjoy it!

message 272: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments Isn't there a sequel to Rosemary's baby? I'm wondering if I have it...lol.

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments I'm not sure I've always wanted to read Rosemary Baby & every copy I ever seen was really bad and the copy I seen was like mint condition & so was the exorcist & at one of the book stores I got to its buy 4 books & get 1 free & if you spend more than $10 you get a free $5 worth of credit but I also grabbed Stephen King's Needful Things & another copy of Rose Matter because it was mint & only $1 & I got 2 free Dean Koonts books because I only need 8 to finish his collection so grabbed 2 I needed :)

message 274: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments Wow! I wanna go to your bookstore!

message 275: by Terry (new) - rated it 3 stars

Terry | 5368 comments I've read the Exorcist and Legion, enjoyed them both, but haven't read Rosemary's baby. I read there is a sequel to that one, but it isn't getting very good reviews.

message 276: by Terry (new) - rated it 3 stars

Terry | 5368 comments And no kidding, Adamus. That is a good haul. I'm not getting deals like that at the used bookstores I get to!

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Lol yea it's actually a good place if you want to buy books we have Barnes & Nobles, but we have a lot of small book stores that have sooo much more & some of the deals they have are amazing. We have 6 book stores & then we have another 8 stores that are half book stores and other stores together it's good I spend hours in them.

message 278: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments Oh gosh! I bet! When I go to half price, they have a decent horror section, and I literally sit down in the aisle going through books. I could sit there for hours!

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Yea i do the same 2 of the book stores i almost cleared out there whole horror section LOL they still have more, but i don't know how they are & some aren't that interesting & then there are a lot of doubles I have. I love sitting in book stores & reading the back of the books & deciding which I want. Usually it takes me hoursss to pick some out lol but I guess when your a hardcore reader that's normal lol

message 280: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments Very true. I once went to this bookstore about an hour away. I didn't plan on it, but I just happened to stumble upon it and supposedly it's haunted. I guess it was on that ghost hunters TV show. Any way the entire basement is filled with horror, top to bottom. I literally died...lol. I could've spent my entire day there and been happy as pie. To this day, I can't wait to go back!

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Our Barnes & Nobles here is good, but they don't have a horror section!! Like what kind of B&N doesn't have a horror section??? & there excuse is because they don't have room smh that's why I go to these other stores because they have huge horror sections & that's really what i shop for. It's either Horror or Suspense-Thriller books with murderers or anything with crime that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Oh man that sounds sooo cool!! I have been google-ing book stores near me that strictly sell horror books because I know there are some book stores that specialize in horror & I read in some Magazines that there are a bunch of book stores in the US that only sell horror books & I have been dying to find one I don't care if it's a little troop I wouldn't mind taking a little mini road trip for something like that. When i go book shopping I will go to all the ones in town & I even go out of town to the towns & city's around mine & check out there book stores.

message 283: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments Yes, I would totally do the same thing! I don't usually go to B&N because they don't have a horror section or if they do it's very limited. Sometimes they have bargains on well known authors and that's the only time I go. Most of my horror collection comes from bookstores no ones heard of or the goodwill. I almost always find one or two and I have like 3 of them I frequent.

message 284: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments I totally have Son Of Rosemary...lol. We shud do buddyreads on both! I'll add that to the ever growing list. If u all can get ur hands on The Manse, I'm starting a buddyread for that at the end of September, FYI.

message 285: by Terry (new) - rated it 3 stars

Terry | 5368 comments I've always wondered why B&N didn't have a horror section. Doesn't make sense that they don't. I like to go there to look at new stuff coming out, more often in Sci-Fi or Fantasy, though. I've really only gone to a handful of used bookstores close by here, and none of them have very big collections of horror. Looking this last weekend, I could only find 3 or 4 Laymon or Lee books total.

message 286: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments The only books I've found there are either Stephen King or dean koontz. Sometimes I'll find Dan Simmons but that's about it. Maybe the demand for horror is just not there.

message 287: by Terry (new) - rated it 3 stars

Terry | 5368 comments I think you're right. Horror just isn't popular. I like the looks of The Manse as another Halloween read, and I'd read Rosemary's Baby too. I've been trying to pick up the books to go along with a lot of the old Horror movies I still like to watch around Halloween, and that would fit.

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Yup exactly in my B&N they only have King, Koontz, Simmons & they have Joe Hill. The only time they ever got Laymon books in was when I ordered them smh but yea there website is better than there stores. I will see a random Clive Barker or something but they suck unless you go to the one in Manhattan there 3 floors & have a huge horror selection

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Yea we will definitely have to set up some buddy reads we've got so many good ideas lol I'm gonna check for The Manse this week

message 290: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments There's a sequel to The Manse, but it's a hard one to find. I'm gonna try and get it if I can. Hopefully, it's not too much on Amazon.

message 291: by Terry (new) - rated it 3 stars

Terry | 5368 comments The Manse is around $18 on Amazon, and $12 on Abebooks.

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments I'm gonna check my book stores hopefully its in one of them or one of the Goodwill's. Oh yea, Terry that's another place i would recommend usually Goodwill's or thrift stores have descent selection of books usually they have some horror too & there cheap.

message 293: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments Yeah, I don't know if I want to pay that much. I'll check on that eBay site. I forget the name.

message 294: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments I got mine on PBS, I think. Someone posted it and it was on my wish list so I got first crack at it.

message 295: by Terry (new) - rated it 3 stars

Terry | 5368 comments I've not checked Goodwill before. I'll have to do that.

message 296: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments They don't have it on half.com either:(

message 297: by Terry (new) - rated it 3 stars

Terry | 5368 comments I've looked at PBS before, but not done it. Has your experience been good with it?

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments I know when you buy books online from B&N they have a bunch of different websites they go through if there store doesn't have it maybe one of those has it

message 299: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments My experience with PB has been awesome especially when it's hard to find books. Usually I put a bunch on my wish list and then when someone posts it, I only have to pay around 4 bucks to get it if I don't have a credit. I try to remember to post my books but I get lazy.

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments whats PBS? Sorry if it's a stupid question I just never heard of it
