Emerson Hawthorne | 157 comments LaurLa,

I just finished my first pick, Truce (Neighbor from Hell, #4) by R.L. Mathewson , yesterday. I enjoyed it very much. I think I have read the first two Neighbor books, but never got around to the third. I will have to go back and do that.

There were definitely some laugh out loud moments for me, especially when Robert and Elizabeth would recall some of their best moments tormenting each other as children. But there were also incredibly moving moments when he would take care of her and she would indulge his food fixation. The tie-back to the present was also fairly well done. Thanks for including it in my list. 4 stars.

So far I've read four of the picks you gave me!

Virgin River (Virgin River, #1) by Robyn Carr : Honestly, the female MC annoyed me at first but she got better as the book went on. I'm not sure I will return to this series and if I do, I'm certainly not in a hurry.

Against the Sky (The Brodies of Alaska, #2) by Kat Martin : Female MC drove me nuts! I guess that's the theme for this month!

Sixth Grave on the Edge (Charley Davidson, #6) by Darynda Jones : Bad things are coming. I can feel it.

I'm still waiting on a couple from the library and plan to get to as many as I can! Thanks again!

I'm not sure what you mean, but if it is just that the person you picked for hasn't commented yet - that doesn't necessarily mean they haven't read any of your picks yet. (A glance at her read shelf does show that she has though.) There is still plenty of month left and sometimes it takes a while to get to all of the books they want to read in a month. I know I sometimes save a book I'm looking forward to until I've finished other obligations and have plenty of time to get absorbed in the story! Sometimes people just never have time to come back and comment, it isn't ideal but Real Life happens. I'm sure even in those cases, getting their picks is appreciated!!

message 234: by Mai (last edited Sep 24, 2015 11:21AM) (new)

Mai | 362 comments Summary for September:

I read 11 books of my picks by Elizabeth:

The very best of them was - of course - Proven Guilty, but I'm Harry Dresden fan anyway :)
Therefor, it's no surprise, that the Jim Butcher story in My Big Fat Supernatural Wedding has been one of my highlights as well.

Starstruck was a new to me book and a pleasant surprise. I think I've never read a YA-geek-alien -SF-Urban Fantasy-romance before. Quite refreshing!

Playing for Keeps - I don't read many m/m romances (I'm usually a m/f or f/f reader) and I hate soccer (which is sooo big in my country) - and yet I really liked this book. The characters were very likeable and it has been a wonderful read.

The Earl I Adore - I love Knightley's writing and her HRs are really sweet - I just wish they had some sexy times

Thieves' Quarry and Black Powder War were pretty solid fantasy novels and series I'll continue.

Dying Bites had an interesting premise, I think I will read this series, too.

Bite the Bullet is a series, that isn't working for me, although I like the characters.

Not my cup of tea (not bad, just not my thing: Dockside and Hell on Wheels - but hey, the last one was free ^^

Thanks again for those great picks!

Hey Sonal!
I read In Flight (Up in the Air, #1) by R.K. Lilley this month, thanks so much for the rec! It started off okay for me but then got much better as I got to know her backstory more. I'm not usually too much into BDSM books (not sure why they seem to never make it as 'favorites') but I liked this one enough pick up the sequel, Mile High and after finishing that one today, I must admit that I thought In Flight was better. Thanks for the rec, I probably wouldn't have picked this series out on my own and I'm glad I read it! :)

Thanks!

MountainKat | 31767 comments Hi Fran! I haven't had a chance to update my PIFM reads this month - I've been too busy reading! So far this month I've read:

Polar Bared by Eve Langlais 9.6.15 - Lots of shifter fun!

Long Time Gone by Lorelei James 9.8.15 - Loved this one!

Stripped Down by Lorelei James 9.12.15 - Hilarious!

A Night Like This by Julia Quinn 9.16.15 - Sweet!

Encore by Shira Anthony 9.22.15 - Not my favorite of the series, but still good!

Dirty Deeds by Lorelei James 9.26.15 - Slow to start, but I loved the end!

If I can manage to finish my PtP book in time, I still hope to squeeze in THE CAPTURE: The Marriage Diaries, Volume 6. I can't promise a buddy read since I'm not sure I will have time, but maybe we can discuss it whenever both of us have read it. =) Thanks for all the awesome picks!!
