His bizarre and still-unexplained death in 1967 at age 38 was like something out of one of his own Twilight Zone episodes, and it cut short the brilliant career of Charles Beaumont, a master of modern weird fiction. Our new edition of A TOUCH OF THE CREATURE includes all 14 stories from the limited hardcover edition, plus three never-before-seen stories and a new introduction by Roger Anker.

If you're not familiar with Beaumont, The Hunger: And Other Stories is a great place to start. Penguin also has a collection of his stories coming in October. :)

Char | 318 comments I'm not really familiar with Beaumont. Is that bad? I do have The Hunger on my wish list though. :)
And now this one. *sigh*

I just read his bio. I wonder what that disease was? How strange.

Huh.His bio here says that at 38 he looked like a 95 yr old man.
Either way, what an awful thing to have happen.

Char | 318 comments Hehehe. That reminds of an episode of The Family Guy called The Church of Fonzi.
Peter Griffin: May we all sit on it.
