Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I have my doubts. I think I will stick to my normal clothed method.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I think I shall use that as a punishment for naughty groupites.

I will sentence them to nekked bacon frying and then I shall eat the delicious, delicious bacon.

I'm with Kath and Jim. I'm 69 and would never allow let alone expect my family to give up their chances in life for me. THAT would make me miserable. I want them to do well and make me proud. I realise how hard it must be for you. Cyber hugs xx

Auto-anything is a curse of the modern world. It must be supervised every second. It's almost not worth the 'help' it provides.

Glad you enjoyed yourself and feel refreshed and ready to carry on. Glad care package is nearly sorted.

I am sorry to hear that - it happens to me about once a month, when the pain is poorly controlled and Lord knows what else. But it makes for NO writing the following day.

Try Edgar Alan Poe, Elizabeth. Linda swears by it for insomnia.

Trying to get something I finished in October sorted but I keep getting obstacles thrown up in my way. So some who have finished it after me are all sorted but I'm still not. And it's all things that were supposed to be sorted by others.

Sorry Geoff, have just woken up. (Complete Works of Shakespeare).

I've never read any EAP - it always sounded too chilling, a bit like Turn of the Screw - and that sort of thing tends to keep me awake!

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments So fed up I could cry. All car is unpacked and I'm waiting for a Tesco home delivery as I emptied the fridge in anticipation of our trip to France today. The list of dry petrol stations is scary and I don't want to get stuck either en route there or back or spend three weeks walking about or going nowhere because we haven't got fuel. Really wouldn't take a lot to finish me off at the moment.

message 1138: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I saw your post about the fuel on Facebook, Lynne.

I say there's no point thinking about it now. Try and relax and enjoy spring at home.

Perhaps you can use the money you're not going to spend on going to France on a short break in the uk?
I've heard there's some really nice pet friendly B&Bs around.

You need something happy to think about.

message 1139: by Lynne (Tigger's Mum) (last edited May 22, 2016 04:38AM) (new)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Thanks Patti. You are quite right but my home is in a very good place for being out and about. Pembrokeshire is wonderful so we can enjoy it. It's just that we've got to get the car CT'd. (MOT) in June to be legal. We've also got to see to the house there. It's more of an obligation than vacation which is putting more clouded thoughts into my tiny overloaded brain. Do we sell up there? Although if we did it would not happen quickly. It's tricky. Sara has taken her leave so we can go so she's off work so it's affecting everyone here. I'm hanging tough till Thursday and we've got bookings for the hotel and tunnel made. I think it's just the stress and adrenaline levels going up and down like a yo yo. I'm upset as well because I turned down a family wedding so I missed out on that because we should have been away last week.

message 1140: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Have a look for information on what happens if you need to delay the CT on the car. There must be some sort of provision in place.

Have you got someone in France who checks your house? Get in touch with them to set your mind at ease. Is there anything that needs doing that can't wait?

As Sara is off work, go spend time with her. You mustn't have many opportunities to see her in the day.
Go have an indulgent lunch.

Shame about the wedding. Is it too late to let them know you're able to,attend after all?

message 1141: by Lynne (Tigger's Mum) (last edited May 22, 2016 11:54PM) (new)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments You're like me Patti, practical, house will be OK. I've got super neighbours all round. I spoke to one yesterday but I'm never worried about it. Wedding has been and gone, the happy couple are on honeymoon. Not too sure about spending time with my girl, I love her to bits but she's not restful company. :o)
The CT will be done if we have to use our booking to travel, stay in the north and get it done and come home. Husband says he'll do that as a last resort as it will be an expense just to do it with no benefit. Money isn't the expense I begrudge it's the time and the extra stress I don't want to put on Roger. He really doesn't do stress!

message 1142: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments No point stressing about the CT now. You've got six weeks-ish to get it sorted.

Don't know if I'm practical. I just find getting things sorted in my brain helps me to not stress out.

Big shame about the wedding. Go join them on their honeymoon. ;)
I think I relate with you on your daughter. My sister can be like that.
Gonna be wonderful to see her next month though.

You know what you really need? To disappear into a really good book.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments To disappear would be enough :o)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Lynne (Tigger's Mum) wrote: "To disappear would be enough :o)"

How frustrating. My sympathies on having your plans up in the air like this. It's the not knowing.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Thanks Alicia, that's right. You don't know what to do for the best. The few days before we go is always 'in limbo' time at both ends so that cuts your normal holiday time too.

message 1146: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Time for comfort and de-stressing measures until you know what's going to happen and can jump one way or the other.

The part about losing several days on each end is why I want to get out of a single-family house - so many things to arrange before you can leave for a few days, and you have to cart all your kit and caboodle with you to form a temporary home wherever you go because we're not kids anymore (don't know about you, but we aren't) and can't be without meds, and sunscreen, and pills for every possible ill because the one you don't prepare for will happen and there you are in a foreign country and have no idea where to get...

You get the idea.

Can you buy most medicines over the counter in Mexico, Alicia?

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Patti (baconater) wrote: "Speaking of which...

No. They are getting picky. You'd probably have to see - and pay - a local doctor (the resorts make them available, but not inexpensive) to get a local prescription.

If it's a prescription med, keep it on your person at all times. A small amount is probably not a problem, but think about airport security when you decide whether you can take them out of their bottles with proper labels. I don't know if they would even honor a prescription from somewhere else, so that would be useful if you can't remember what you're taking (to show to the local doctor, not to get a spare filled).

Travelers are warned to be careful - and they still do all kinds of dumb things which I know Patti wouldn't.

Normal stuff - like headache and cold and diarrhea meds - take them, but do expect to be able to find something if you suddenly need some. Again, resort hotels have a few things in their stores - at high prices - but your selection won't be wide, and won't match what you're used to.

And don't leave them in the hotel where someone might take some - keep them in the safe in your room.

Just ask yourself, "how much trouble and expense am I willing to go to to replace this stuff, and how will I feel without it," and plan accordingly.

I would do the same going to England - and wouldn't want to waste vacation time on something I could have brought with me or safeguarded better.

Mom

Don't need to teach you anything. Didn't I see warning about cipro on the internet? Something about saving it for last-ditch use? You would know.
