Need a cuddle?

It's not always a terrible sign. My mother-in-law's cat started collapsing when she was 5 or 6, everyone said that was it. She lived on for years after that, with occasional collapses. It never seemed to bother her.
Jud (Disney Diva) wrote: "Big hugs Lynne, it is horrible to watch, especially when you don't know what to do to help them."In many ways that is the worst part.
She weighs 6 stones, and when she goes down with a bump and is rigid with pain, I just physically couldn't lift her off the garden yesterday. We daren't take her a walk, even getting her back from the end of the road would be impossible. Since last week when it started she's had one a day but yesterday she had three. It's come on so suddenly and it's not obvious what it is. She's got a back leg weakness but I don't think it's that.

We had that problem with Leo. The vet was pretty confident it was an epileptic seizure, but said they couldn't confirm it unless they could take bloods immediately afterwards. As he got older they became increasingly less frequent.
The guy sitting next to me here in the office is off to the funeral of a friend's son. He was hit by a car at, what forensics reckon, was about 70 mph in a side street in Ashton-Under-Lyme. He was 9. His grandfather was a couple of steps further on, his father a couple of steps behind. They had just left the mosque. The car drove off and was abandoned not far away. Three people have been arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving. The driver was 19 and uninsured.
As I'm sure you understand I am somewhat subdued this morning.
Huge hugs Geoff for you and for the guy sitting next to you. Life can be so cruel. Thank goodness they caught the guys in the car, it's a small comfort but hopefully they won't get away scot free
I saw that on the local news, so sad, but glad they have been caught, although as my neighbour pointed out, death by dangerous driving doesn't have a high prison sentence, despite the fact you have still killed someone.
Saw that on the news Geoff.Very sad, thoughts go out to family and friends, glad they caught the driver and hope he gets a long prison sentence ,at least nowadays they do get sent to prison, in 1985 when my son was killed by bus.the driver got fined £150 and not sure if there were points system then but think he got 2 points on licence. Must have been terrible for father and grandfather to actually witness their child being killed.
(((((HUGS))))) Geoff.Hope they do a custodial; saw a TV report recently that someone got 12 months community service and a 12 month ban for driving into another car and killing the young boy in the back seat.
Hugs for Lynne, Geoff and Kay as well as everybody else that needs them.I could do with some myself, feeling rather down tonight.
Sorry you're feeling down, Claire. It's rotten when you feel that way. Have a hug and hope you're feeling more upbeat.
Thanks everyone :) I'm feeling a lot better today, been to work to get a few things sorted that were getting me down so much happier now :)

Hugs for Geoff, Kay and Claire.Tragic when someone so young is lost in such a mindless way.
Glad to hear you got things sorted at work Claire, hope you have a great weekend.
Mum in hospital with a suspected stroke. Need to sort out care for them. 24 hour so if something goes tits up I don't have to drop everything and fly down there about once a month the way I do now. Probably won't be around for a while. Laters, as I think they say. Now I have to sleep in Mum and Dad's room tomorrow with my Dad who needs a wee every 20 minutes - 1 hour and has to have someone there to turn the light on and talk him to the en suite and back, because he's got dementia. So I need my sleep because as of tomorrow, until the 24 hour care is in place, I won't be gettin' much!Cheers

Thanks. It's one of those times when you just close your eyes, grit your teeth and hang on until you come out the other side.Cheers

Good morning. Sorry to hear your parents are having problems. GL and Mary, on a practical note can you just leave the light on for your Dad Mary? . I used to have to for mine. It didn't bother him sleeping and its a lot safer. I do feel for you and GL. Its hard going. Take care both of you XX
Thinking of you, Mary. My mum was liike this. My sister lived with her and I don't know how she managed with the broken sleep. You do when you have kids, but you know that things imorove in that case. Big hug, gal. X
Thinking of you all Mary. Have you thought about one of those lights that come on as soon as they detect movement ? I used to leave the landing light on all night, I have to cross the top of the stairs if I need a wee and without my glasses I can't see a thing. Roy brought it home one day, you plug it into a wall socket and if it detects any movement at all in the dark it comes on. Works a treat. The are supposed to be for when you have a power cut but works perfectly to light the way you o to the loo. Hope things go ok for you.
I was reading this in the Telegraph yesterday and have to confess that it broke me. I cannot imagine the sadness.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknew... -
Have you spoke to the district nurse about dad's urinary problem Mary? There may be some helpful interventions.Urinary sheaths, medication to stop the constant urge and even technical aides such as a mat at the side of his bed which sounds an alarm when he stands on it are but a few I've seen used successfully in this situation.
Fingers crossed you can sort out the help you need and fingers crossed for your mum.

Thanks Desley, I've just got a very bad feeling about it.
