Vimal Thiagarajan (veeti) | 228 comments Wow, that's great Aparna. Far west to Far east, new climate and new libraries :) Good luck with the move! Hope you'll be back in the W territory soon after settling.

Edit:Oh wait! So you are going straight into Bertie Territory!!!!!!!!!!

Vimal Thiagarajan (veeti) | 228 comments @Girish, Syl, Rebecca,SV, everyone ready to start 'Stiff upper lip, Jeeves'? :D

message 254: by Ahtims (new)

Ahtims (embeddedinbooks) | 2936 comments Sorry, Vimal. I am eternally postponing Bertie.
Currently I am playing hide and seek with 10 books.
4 of them in active competition.
After I finish a couple, (hope it is soon) I will probably start Bertie along with Slaves of solitude.

message 255: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 272 comments I am ready. When do we start?

message 256: by Vimal (new)

Vimal Thiagarajan (veeti) | 228 comments @Syl, you are an amazing book manager! Do join in when you get time.

message 260: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 272 comments I am about 12% into it and chuckling all to myself this dark misty evening. This is the way I love reading Wodehouse with a few months break so that everything seems new.

dark, misty evening? Really? How I wish I were back home in Calicut for a happy holiday break.

message 262: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 272 comments Yes Dark misty It was thunderstorms and a light spray half an hour back.

message 263: by Ahtims (new)

Ahtims (embeddedinbooks) | 2936 comments hmmmmmmm....
here it is hot, hot, hot..
afternoons if I have to walk home, I get headache and photophobia. The sun is THAT bright.

message 264: by Vimal (new)

Vimal Thiagarajan (veeti) | 228 comments I'm a big fan of Kerala weather too.Had an extreme love-hate relationship with the weather there when I stayed there for a couple of years. I think there are enough books about London weather, but not enough books that describe Kerala weather :D

Will be starting the book today

message 265: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 272 comments It was raining all afternoon here. This place it used to rain whole year round except for this year - it was a scorching hot summer till a few weeks back.

message 266: by Vimal (new)

Vimal Thiagarajan (veeti) | 228 comments Couldn't read much last week. Read for sometime today. In chapter 11. With Jeeves's help Bertie narrowly escapes being hit on the back of the head by the zulu knobkerries :) Funniest chapter so far

message 267: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 272 comments I am on page 50 .Today my supressed laughter at the scene when Pop Basset sees Bertie planted in his house woke up my hubby from his slumber.

LOL

message 269: by Girish (new)

Girish (kaapipaste) | 51 comments Finished this book and towards this end it is equivalent to a bloodbath by PGW standards :D

message 270: by Vimal (new)

Vimal Thiagarajan (veeti) | 228 comments Bloodbath indeed! Bertie at his philosophical best in the second half :D A real gem this is in the Jeeves collection.

message 271: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 272 comments I am at 80 % and will finish this today. So far this has been the best Jeeves I've read.

message 272: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 272 comments I am finished and this was major fun! The most hilarious of them all.

message 273: by Ahtims (new)

Ahtims (embeddedinbooks) | 2936 comments Vimal, as we discussed in the other thread, I dont mind either of the 3, but thought mating season sounds a tad better

The Code of the Woosters
Jeeves and the Tie That Binds
The Mating Season

Shall we start this Sunday?

Rebecca and others, care to join in?

message 274: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 272 comments My PC is not working. So I don't know which I have with me. You people go ahead with your choice. Will catch up later.

message 275: by Vimal (last edited Jun 16, 2016 06:28PM) (new)

Vimal Thiagarajan (veeti) | 228 comments Sure, we can start with mating season, though I'm doubtful of a Sunday start. I'll be able to start sometime in the middle of next week.

message 276: by Vimal (last edited Jun 16, 2016 06:31PM) (new)

Vimal Thiagarajan (veeti) | 228 comments But I think after reading Mating season, I want to read something apart from the Jeeves numbers. It'll be my 8th Jeeves and I'm beginning to get afraid that I shouldn't run out of Jeeves books :P They are so damn good.

message 277: by Ahtims (new)

Ahtims (embeddedinbooks) | 2936 comments Vimal, sounds good. Even the end of next week is fine. I said Sunday thinking you wanted an earlier start :-)
Mating season it is.

message 278: by Ahtims (new)

Ahtims (embeddedinbooks) | 2936 comments Vimal, I started the mating season. I may go slow as my cup overfloweth at the moment... but read the first few pages during a bout of insomnia yesterday night , and it is hilarious.

message 279: by Ahtims (new)

Ahtims (embeddedinbooks) | 2936 comments completed the mating season, almost at a stretch. if was HILARIOUS. Full 5 stars.

message 280: by Vimal (new)

Vimal Thiagarajan (veeti) | 228 comments That's great! The master just charms the stars out of you, doesn't he.
Unfortunately I couldn't begin last week since things were going too tight. Starting today for sure.

Anyone else joining?

message 281: by Ahtims (new)

Ahtims (embeddedinbooks) | 2936 comments I think Rebecca is starting too.

message 282: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 272 comments Yes I plan to start soon not today maybe tommorrow.

message 283: by Vimal (new)

Vimal Thiagarajan (veeti) | 228 comments Great, hope you started Rebecca.
Will be going slow with this one due to 3 parallel reads.
I'm about 10% done. It's hilarious as usual and with an abundance of aunts!
