What I meant was, Fern gets an apprentice, and is made deputy, but that's a lot of work. So, Scrabblepaw helps with the mentoring part, to take some of the work of Fern's shoulders. You think it could work?

Okay, how about this: We pick an old deputy who retires, or the deputy develops an illness/gets injured so it has to retire, or the deputy dies. In that time, Fernshimmer trains an apprentice, then gets made deputy. Sound okay?
