The Hellbound Heart by Clive Barker

So this is another one of those books that I found at my local used book store. Upon reading the cover and realizing that this was the novella that Hellraiser was based on I'd be crazy not to pick it up! I actually changed this weeks book from It by Stephen King to The Hellbound Heart because to me Hellraiser has ALWAYS been scarier than It. In retrospect I probably should have stuck with It. I ended up rating this book only 3 stars because it just didn't hit the grand slam home run for me. I felt that it was very lacking and really only had about 2 maybe 3 spots that made me make a funny face from the gross description of the Cenobites ripping Frank's flesh off with their hooks. I'm sure back when the story first came out in like 1986 or 1983 *I can't remember the first published date exactly*, this was top of the line scary sh*t. But in today's world where I'm more afraid of someone shooting me at work (I work in a hospital)this book just wasn't scary to me at all. I was kind of let down by it. but oh well, I'm still happy I read it to see where the inspiration for Hellraiser came from!
