My thoughts so far:

I quite like how Smith is our only exposure to Martian culture. It does seem odd that Captain von Tramp wouldn't have shared more, but maybe they didn't learn anything more.

I wonder how the crew of the Zombie convinced Smith to come with them, or did they just take him?

What does grok mean? The way it's being used, it seems like a synonym for understand, but there must be more than that, otherwise why wouldn't the author use grok at all?

I'll share more later, but I thought I'd get the discussion rolling with some thought I had.


Cory Shankman (shade_of_dawn) Grok is a great word. By the end of the book you'll be wanting to use it. I think I grok it, but it's hard to be sure. It hasn't fully made its way into my lexicon yet, but the urge was pretty strong right after finishing the book.
