Jim Vuksic There are a number of science fiction authors whom I admire; but I choose to feature Christopher Priest in this discussion because many readers, especially the younger ones, may not be very familiar with his works.

Mr. Priest lived in London. He was a full-time writer and part-time teacher of science fiction appreciation at London University.

His stories appeared in many of the popular sci-fi magazines of the 1970's. He wrote three novels: Indoctrinaire, Darkening Island, and my favorite, The Inverted World.

Shane Joyce (shanejoyce) | 6 comments I only read The Inverted World last year. It was by far one of the oddest ideas for a book I have ever read but I greatly enjoyed the bizarre setting mixed with hard sci-fi roots. This thread has reminded me to seek out other works by Christopher Priest.

LindaJ^ (lindajs) | 260 comments I am currently reading The Islanders with another group. It is the first book I've read by Priest and I'm not too far into it as yet so not ready to comment on style!

Sérgio | 74 comments The Affirmation is a great book. Very metafictional and very well written, kid of a mindf**k really.

Philip k. Dick fans, such as myself, will love it.
