ROUND II: Team Leonidas
Laura wrote: "Saxa's New Goal: Read a book which has the main location (setting) as a plane or other flying ship"I'll take this one! I just picked up
from the Overdrive library.
I am checking for "best of both worlds" If I don't find anything at work then it is an impossible goal.
I was wondering how in the heck does one look for a phrase in a book? I started searching for it with my wish list on my Overdrive library and it was time consuming! Can we use one of those boons? @Amanda....cool! but it is almost 600 pages! wow!
Saxa's new goals:1) Read a book that is in the Amazon 2004 bestsellers (http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/...)
2) Read a book with the word king, queen, prince or princess (plurals are acceptable) in the title
Saxa's Current Goals:1) Read a book that is in the Amazon 2004 bestsellers (http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/...)
2) Read a book with the word king, queen, prince or princess (plurals are acceptable) in the title
3) Read a book which has the main location (setting) as a plane or other flying ship (Amanda)
Agron's Current Goals:
1) Read a book first published on the 5th of a month (Margaret)
2) Read a book that starts with the letter D (Laura)
3) Read a book with the phrase "Best of both worlds" in a book
Margaret wrote: "I was wondering how in the heck does one look for a phrase in a book? I started searching for it with my wish list on my Overdrive library and it was time consuming! I've been so excited to read Leviathan Wakes that I think it will go pretty fast. I'm going to call it an early(ish) night and go read for a few hours. I should have it finished by tomorrow evening or Wednesday. Long books give us a full attack point instead of half a point anyway, so it should pay off. :)
I will be choosing a book from the Amazon 2004 bestseller list soon. Wow...the choices on there sucks but I'll try for something that I can stick with.

What do the rest of you think? We have 2, we will get another one soon for the new round.

Agron's New Goal:Read a book that is in the Amazon 2000 bestsellers (http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/...)ok , now I 'm off to work for a few hours!
I don't see "best of both worlds" in anything that I can check, without re-reading or re-listening. :-( Sorry.
So I check for the "best of both worlds" goal at work last night. We had a crew of 10 on shift and set a task search. Nothing. I assume because it is a goal there is a book with that phrase in it.I can also do the goal of reading a book on the Amazon 2000 best seller list. i bought a copy of Beowulf a few days ago

It will work for attack points, Chris, I think the goal is that the word has to be in the title. We have a few books that would work but they are already attached to a goal. I am waiting for confirmation from Amanda or the other mods on a book that may also work that is in our list. *Fingers crossed*
I'm about to read
But it's rather long, and will take several days (when you account for RL)...just in case we need it on the backburner
Saxa's spreadsheet updated to hereGoals:

Argon's Goals
read a book first published on the 5th of a month --Amanda?
read a book with the phrase "best of both worlds" in it (wanting to use a boon--waiting for more team confirmation)

I LOVE this series! I have only read through Sword Song so I want to reread the books from the beginning before carrying on.
Have you read anything else by Bernard Cornwell?
Laura wrote: " I am waiting for confirmation from Amanda or the other mods on a book that may also work that is in our list. *Fingers crossed* "I'm waiting for another mod to chime in. When it's our own team we usually let another mod decide to keep things fair.
Someone should be on soon.
Laura wrote: "read a book with the phrase "best of both worlds" in it (wanting to use a boon--waiting for more team confirmation)"Works for me! We'll be getting another boon before too long anyway.
I started
last night and it is amazing! So far it's one of the best books I've read in a while. I wanted to keep reading but was interrupted by a little thing called sleep. ;)There's going to be a tv series based on the books and I'm excited but also very nervous...as I always am when books are adapted into movies/tv shows.
Amanda wrote: "I started

I wanted to keep reading but was interrupted by a little thing ..."sleep? who needs sleep? lol we all are plagued by that problem. I put this book on my tbr list and also on my wish list on the Overdrive. I bet your Dad would read this one, I know it! You reading Sci Fi and loving it! now that is really telling me that it is good. :D
Ok , the mods decided Queenpin was a no go!Shannon, said she would read a book that would look after that goal.
Waiting for a few others to chime in about using the boon for that pesky goal.
I'm not at home, but will be turning in a few books later today. Do you want to check those before using the boon? Otherwise, fine with me. Check Inmortal Beloved by Cate Tiernan, Every Last Breath by Jennifer Armentrout, and Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor. Also getting ready to start Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard (that might be spelled wrong).
Sorry. Amazon won't let me check on my phone.

I like sci-fi as long as it is well-written. I've read a few where the author was lazy about the worldbuilding and that ruins the book for me.

Thanks Kim! :)
I'll check these books, Laura.
Shucks. Thanks for checking for me. I can look through a few others this evening if we are still wavering on whether or not to use the boon. I will check back.

I love Bernard Cornwell! I've read a good chunk of the Sharpe series, through 4 of the Saxon Stories and some of the others, too. The only one I haven't liked is the one about Arthur.

I read one of his books the first of the Saxon and read Copperhead which didn't even impress me at all. I think he is better at what he knows, Europe.
