"So are you here because of someone else's will?" he asked curiously.

She shrugged. "I suppose. My parents told me to win, and if I don't, they'll be dreadfully disappointed in me. It's not all them, though... I suppose it's every girl's dream to be a princess, isn't it? And... This country deserves a strong ruler. I guess that ruler could be me." Why was she talking about this to the Prince? She'd be cut by tomorrow if she kept on like this. And... No. She couldn't think about how her parents would react were she to return home without reaching the Elite. It... Wouldn't be good. So she had to at least make it there.
For a moment, Dante was caught off gaurd. Even though he knew he should let her go for that, he understood her. "It seems that I am not the only one with overbearing parents and a firm responsibility." he said simply.
She smiled tightly. "Guess not." Sometimes... She felt like she wasn't her own person, just who her parents wanted her to be. She shook her head. She should stop talking like this. He probably wanted to kick her out by now.
The taught smile and troubled eyes of Isabelle made Dante's racing thoughts pause. Everyone here, every single person, had hardships, but in the end, it was about going beyond that to carry the hardships of everyone else and doing whatever possible to make it easier for the good of the nation. He got her on every level possible in that moment because that was his life. Pretending, smiling, and responsibility.
She smiled a little sadly, certain that she'd blown it. Her emotions had gotten the best of her, and she'd be sent home. To her parents' disappointment. And to the 'glamorous' life of an actress. Doing whatever someone told her to do. "Well, your highness... I'm sure you have many more important things that you should probably be doing right now... You shouldn't waste so much of your precious time on me."
((Sorry! ))"Oh, please, my time is no more precious than yours." he replied. "I understand, however, if you'd rather have some time to yourself." Maybe she just wanted to be alone. Girls were so freaking confusing.
"My time is worth next to nothing, your highness," she smiled. "I'm just one girl in a million. Nothing special." She hesitated. "If you wanted to stay... Please do. But you don't have to stay only for my sake."
"In that you are wrong, Miss Lamour." Dante said softly, looking her in the eye. "Everyone is 'special' or we would not be here. We are all on this Earth to be or do something, someone special."
She looked down. "Believe me when I tell you that I'm nothing special. I just do what others tell me to do. All my accomplishments... They're theirs. Not mine." But failing the Selection will be the first thing I failed to do on my own.
"So don't let them be theirs." he said simply and leaned forward slightly. "Take it back." Dante was completely intrigued by this girl who had it all together but was slowly falling apart.
"Well, that's for you to find out." he replied. Dante couldn't be there to tell her how to figure her life out; she needed to take control of it herself. But maybe he could help her.
She nodded, looking down again. There was Jo way this life could ever be hers again... After all, she wasn't sure if what she wanted was actually what she wanted, or whether it was just what her parents wanted.
"Well, this has certainly been the most interesting conversation I've had in a while, Miss Lamour. Thank you for that. I'm afraid, however, that I must leave to go to some utterly boring meeting that they pass off as vital." he sighed. "I do hope that I'll see more of you around."
"I told you you had something better to be doing," she smiled. "You probably had to be there ages ago." Most interesting conversation? See me around? He can't mean... My completely falling apart in front of him... He liked that?
"18 minutes ago if we're going to be exact." he winked. "And trust me, you are far more important than the meeting." he said.
She rolled her eyes, smiling a real, genuine smile. "Me, more important than running the country?" She raised an eyebrow. She shook her head, laughing a little. "You should probably go, before the country explodes from your absence at the meeting."
"Yes, but if the nation falls apart in 18 minutes, well, it must have been in quite the havoc in the first place to be in that position. Rest assured, these people can afford to be knocked down a few pegs as far as their ego goes." he grinned. "Anyways, I have to go get my royal butt kicked for being late... again. Wish me luck." he teased.
"Who knows? It might have been an emergency!" She smiled. "Good luck, though. I know how those people can be, sometimes..."
Dante let out a sigh. "Okay, well, I am just procrastinating the inevitable now. I am officially 19 minutes late and counting. Miss Lamour, I do hope to see you again soon." he said and gently kissed the back of her hand before standing up and walking out of the room.
She smiled, watching him leave. He... Wants to see me again? I completely flew apart! Letting my emotions get the better of me... It was a disaster! And yet... She liked Dante, surprisingly. She hadn't expected to like anyone here. She'd expected to make in to the Elite on her skill, beauty, and talent, and then be sent home, because there was no connection. Her parents would have been disappointed, to be sure, but they couldn't begrudge her for that. I mean, they had been the ones to tell her to not let her emotions get ahead of her. But once they'd come lose... He'd almost seemed to like her more. How was that possible? And... Did she really want to win? Would she make a good queen? Her parents seemed to think so... Although they only wanted her as queen so that they could gain more power. That was another factor to consider as well... Would it be fair to Illia to give them a queen who did what she was told? To have her parents run the country? But if she became queen... She wouldn't have to listen to them anymore. She would outrank them, be their superior. She sighed, shaking her hand and falling back onto the bed. Why did this have to be so complicated?
Anna knocker on the door. She would have pushed it open a bit but still was careful around Isabelle. "Housekeeping." She called.
Anna entered, her posture pristine and feet firmly planted on the floor. "Is there anything you would like me to assist you with before I begin my daily chores?"
Anna saw something more to her expression but wasn't going to try to talk about it. She simply nodded and headed toward the restroom.
She sighed, leaning back against the bed again. She needed to pull herself together. It would so her no good to stay like this...
Anna heard a sigh and wondered what had happened in here. "No," She told herself. "Mind your business."
Anna gasped as she pulled her gloves off and moved on to cleaning the shower and bath tub. She took off her shoes so that her panty hose feet were exposed.
Anna stepped into the tub that for reasons unknown is wet and slippery. As she stepped in she slipped and fell backwards with a loud thud.
Anna, still conscious floundered frantically trying to get back to her feet. She let out an involuntary eek and slipped, hitting her head a second time on the wall.
Anna took two deep breaths and then pulled off her panty-hose. She tossed them aside and replied quietly, "Nothing, ma'am."
"Mh, yes please," Anna groaned. Her head pounded. She ued her arms to crawl out of the tub. She made it wobbly to her feet.
