I agree with your comment about Lou Heather.She frustrated me, as did her host family.
She had definite psychological difficulties (thought social phobia) and needed help not condemnation.
I just finished this book. Lou was a difficult character to understand. In fact, all of the character were a little hard to understand with maybe the exception of Gertie. The book was well written but I didn't really enjoy the story.
