That's a very interesting question.
Usually in times of tragedy, many people come together and find solace in another's company.
In relation to the book, I think that Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy because maybe they feel that they don't have to put a facade up anymore, because there's no-one around to really see them. With the tragedy their short- lived freedom began.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, however I found that the world-building was lacking and the plot was all over the place, with not enough foreshadowing. Also, in relation to the 'Titanic Retelling' it's really only the beginning that is reminiscent of Titanic. So I think that the book relied too heavily upon the Titanic tragedy trope which it was not.
It was pretty tragic though, so many people died. Tens of thousands of lives lost in a fiery mass of twisted metal. Plus I was seriously crying in disbelief during parts of it ((view spoiler)).

I could not believe it! I was in tears.

I really LOVED it!! But it did have some problems. It started out somewhat interesting but finally when the ship crashed it got way better. Some parts were sooooooooo cliché, but it was really too late to stop. I found the voices super creepy!! I liked Tarver better then Lilac. He made her sound so much better then my actual opinion of her.=) And the ENDING! SO AWESOME! I was dying, what just happened? I do wonder how the author is going to explain this world, in the next book. SO CREEPY!

The question to think about is:
As the book's blurb states, Lilac and Tarver 'find a strange blessing in the tragedy'.
Do you believe that blessings can arise from tragedy - that good can come from bad? Explain with reference to the book.
Feel free to extend the discussion beyond the questions and simply talk about the book as well :D
