Omnibus series?

I know of a few different series that were originally published as a number of small volume. Then, when republished later or in a different language, they were released as a series of omnibuses (like where omnibus 1 is volumes 1 and 2, omnibus 2 is volumes 3 and 4, etc etc for 20 some volumes).

Should these omnibuses be put into their own series (with a link to the original), or should they be added to the original series and ordered at the end?
