I've also added both my mainstream fiction novels at a discounted 75% for Smashwords promotion.https://www.smashwords.com/books/view...

Marcy, just a suggestion, but the cover does not give me any idea what genre this story is, or what the story is about.
Nick wrote: "Marcy, just a suggestion, but the cover does not give me any idea what genre this story is, or what the story is about."It says on the Smashwords page what the book is about. It's classified Adult; it's an adult novel. The picture on the cover is of a cable car and the title is from a line in "I left my heart in San Francisco." I thought that was pretty clear, if arty/subtle. Not planning to change it, but thanks for the feedback.
I wish my book wasn't free on this promotion, but since I'd already lowered it to 99cents bc it wasn't selling, I figured to be special it had to be free. Too bad they didn't let me know about this until two days before! Well, maybe it'll get me reviews.
I've enrolled my literary fiction novel he & She. It's being sold at half price — 99 cents and to buy it you simply have to enter code REW50 at checkout at http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/...You can look at the entire cataogue at https://www.smashwords.com/books/cate...
Marcy,When a reader is searching, they look at the book cover first. The book cover should give the reader a hint of the genre and what the book is about. The reader then stops and will read the blurb. If they like the blurb, they will read a sample before making up their mind.
I am not knocking your book, but you can argue or tell a reader that the cover is obvious when they say it is not. Its their call.
While you may like the cover, the fact that it is not selling, even at 99 cents might mean you are not attracting readers with you cover...
Maybe...
Think on it...
Okay fine. But none of my books sell, bc I don't do enough promo. doubt it is the cover. How many covers tell you what a book is about? Some have nothing on them but the title!
Hi,My fantasy and science fiction stories are enrolled with most at 50% off. Two are free.

Nick is right: when readers are searching, they look at the book cover first. If your cover isn't a real grabber, they won't bother reading your blurb. Also, the cover should tell, as much as possible, what genre it's in and what the story is about. Try a new cover.
My latest book just came out over the weekend! It's selling for $3.99, but shhh . . . I'll give everyone in this group a discount in support of Smashword's Read An EBook week. At 75% off, you can enjoy it for $1.00.Coupon code: REW75
