Julia (Friesnburger) | 5 comments Hopefully there will be more than 2 :)

You are not alone. I have a weird feeling about that one as well. I also hope there is more then two books.

Yea I probably should have seen it coming but I guess I didn't want to see that part of him. I knew it was never going to last but I was ever so hopeful. I do love Wes though he is a great character.

message 54: by Noa (new)

Noa Bash (noabash) I thought it was batter than okay, but not at the level of good. It took too long to get into the book. The characters were average. I dislikes Guyliner and Owen. I did enjoy the world and the murder mystery aspect of it. But in the end it didn't live up to my expectations.

message 55: by Ditta (new)

Ditta Reads (ditareads) | 6 comments I just finished reading this book and I loved it! Jesse thanks for recommending the archived :)

I liked how everything came together and the ending was nice :) Glad she didn't lie to Wes. The ending didn't feel rushed or to fast or anything. It felt right.

Mom2triplets04 | 4 comments Finally finished. Didn't like the Owen love thing with m. I got creeped out. Enjoyed the ending. So glad Wesley was still alive at the end.

Cassandra | 6 comments Mom2triplets04 wrote: "Finally finished. Didn't like the Owen love thing with m. I got creeped out. Enjoyed the ending. So glad Wesley was still alive at the end."

The Owen love thing creeped me out too, he was dead for crying out loud, you do not kiss dead guys. But I still liked that scene, it felt very raw and self destructive since all Mac wanted was to forget and not feel anything. And I did like Owen at first and I so didn't want to see the plot twist happen.
I really liked the ending too, how we got answers to most questions and that both Mac and Wes were okay. I still think there's something shifty about Ms Angelli though…

message 58: by Öykü (new)

Öykü (oykuboyku) | 2 comments I am going to have a hard time waking up tomorrow considering the hour right now but it was worth finishing the book.
I figured the revelation about Owen the second Mac found the third piece. And it terrified me! This book terrified me a lot to be honest and books can't scare me easily. I also loved it so much. I wasn't expecting it to be this fun and engaging and thrilling.
I have no idea what the sequel is about, Mac and Wes trying to be Crew I guess, but I really want to know the people behind all these things. Who started it? Who decided to archive the dead? To whom Agatha reports to? I don't know if these are going to be answered, and I'm fine if they aren't. I am fine with accepting things as they are but I'm still very curious.
Also, I'm really glad Wesley is alive and Roland isn't evil.

Nadia (heartlesstree) I'M DONE.

****SPOILERS****

 photo 1zwi5ia.gif

UGHHHHHHHHH. I didn't want it to end there! I wanted more! I NEEDED A KISS BETWEEN MAC/WES (yes love their friendship yadda yadda A KISS GODDAMMIT)

 photo tumblr_llx7zrlwc41qf0dlk.gif

And yes I liked Owen, despite being suspicious of him.

I don't know what else to say about it besides I LOVED IT (the writing, the world, the originality of it all) and I'm glad I joined the readalong.

WHEN ARE WE READING THE NEXT ONE, I COULDN'T HELP MY SELF I WENT AND BOUGHT IT RIGHT AWAY.

I want to know about the background and history of The Archived too, and how it all works. It would be very interesting. Even if we don't get it in book 2 it would be cool to have a novella covering it or something like that idkidk.

message 61: by Julia (new)

Julia (Friesnburger) | 5 comments I really want the second book but my library doesn't hold it.. grr! lol

message 62: by Anna (new)

Anna Millard I think there should be a spin-off for Roland! I want to know more about his past and how he ended up in the Archive. Maybe it explains it more in the second book, but I'm all for Roland having his own book.

message 63: by Nouva (new)

Nouva (ladynouf) | 2 comments absolute perfection the ending is amazing I just finished the book I love the characters soo much its soo emotional and exciting ♥♥

message 64: by Anna (new)

Anna reANNAmatedd (whattawiseguy) | 5 comments I read the second half of the book in one night because I couldn't put it down! My theory was wrong, but I KNEW Owen had to have been a keeper in the past, and I knew the metal pieces would make a key. Other than that I kind of failed. :P
I loved the writing and the world/ world building. The pacing and suspense were perfect! Wes' dialogue was fantastic, as well.

Is there going to be a read-along for The Unbound? :)

message 65: by Mari (new)

Mari (marimermaid) i just finished it and I really liked it =D
one of the best things was that Wesley and Mackenzies realtionship gets developed properly and no insta love! I hate insta love!!!
Also the mystery and the world building were brilliant!!

I hope there will be a read-along for The Unbound!! =D

message 66: by Briana (last edited Mar 21, 2014 01:30AM) (new)

Briana (_brianamae) Oh. my. GYAHHHH. I literally just.. I don't even know where the time went but I just finished this book and.. I NEED TO READ THE UNBOUND NOW. I'm still kind of unsure how I picture Wesley in my head, but I still love his character so much and I'm pretty sure reading this book has been making me crave coffee and pastries more than usual. My suspicions were definitely all over the place and although I kind of had a feeling about Carmen.. I was pretty bummed about Owen being the main bad guy of the story. I liked that he gave her this sense of peace.. even though he's actually a piece of sh... Also, I was rather fond of Roland's character. I liked how he was classy and quirky at the same time. Overall, I think this story was amazing and I love Victoria Schwab's writing style. I definitely want to go and buy the hardcover of The Archived (even if I already have the paperback) after reading this because I want the book to be in perfect condition as long as possible. >.<

Briana (_brianamae) Anna wrote: "Not finished with the book but I JUST GOT HANS-ED BY OWEN AND NO PART OF THIS IS OKAY."

Omg. Your term for what happened is perfect and I can't believe I haven't thought of that before. And just.. brownie points on the Frozen reference! :P

message 68: by Katie (new)

Katie A (boldthebookiful) I absolutely loved the book! I was not expecting that ending. I can't wait to read the next book. My review will be up soon. This book should be more popular. Thank you Jesse for creating hype about this book because it definitely deserves it!!!!

message 69: by Crissie (new)

Crissie Wood (ctwood09) | 6 comments Ok I just have to say as soon as I finished The Archived I went online and ordered The Unbound. I just got it in today (B&N's express membership shipping is a joke) and started reading it. I'm only on page 44 and I already feel compelled to say that Victoria Schwab has done it again. Can't put it down. In love with new and old characters already. She must, must, must, must, MUST write a third book. That is all. I just needed to say that and this seemed like an appropriate forum. =)

I would TOTALLY read a Roland spin-off!!!

message 71: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lesashoe) I stayed up to early hours to finish this. It was too good.
I felt like the first half was good but lacking, yet when a mystery was introduced is when the plot started rolling and I couldn't stop reading. Overall pretty excellent schwab

Literally almost crying right now

message 73: by Jena (new)

Jena | 4 comments I am now on chapter 30 and I have to say I am very much disliking Owen right now. I was not expecting him to be the one messing with the Histories. I just want to go back to when he was an innocent and naïve person. Not to mention he did it in the most cutest way possible. Now I just hope he gets what's coming to him.

message 74: by Jena (new)

Jena | 4 comments Just finished reading the Archived and it was amazing. Was actually afraid that Victoria Schwab had possibly killed Wes's character off when the archived did not contact her for three days. So glad that Wes did not die. I hope that Owen is gone for good and somehow does not come back.

Cannot wait to read the next book, Unbound. Don't really know where the story is going because this one kind of wrapped things up. I have a feeling though that the archived will be explained in greater detail.

message 75: by Lexie (new)

Lexie (elluna) | 8 comments @Jena: I hear that "The Unbound" takes place after summer break, when classes start for Wes and Mackenzie, which I imagine adds a whole new world of complications to the mix. I, too, look forward to more insight into the vast world that is the Archive.

message 76: by Melissa (last edited Apr 05, 2014 10:36AM) (new)

Melissa | 13 comments Betty = Ms. Angelli? I'm on Chapter 27, and just a thought. I wonder if there is more to her than meets the eye. Does she have more in mind than just checking in on Dix when she stops in to see him?

message 77: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 13 comments And just as quickly as the idea comes, it is proven incorrect. Ah well. :)

message 78: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 13 comments I knew Wes was reading her before she knew it. I was actually wondering if he'd read her already in the past and she just doesn't know it.

message 79: by Melissa (last edited Apr 05, 2014 10:59AM) (new)

Melissa | 13 comments Owen! I didn't see that until a moment before it was revealed, though the way his silence washed over her and devoured her, I thought something was wrong with him. I was going to post my thoughts about how maybe it was him waking up the Histories, but then I couldn't stop reading long enough.

About to start Chapter 29...I can't believe there are only around 30 pages left!

message 80: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 13 comments Page 303 - "Why? Would you do that for him?" - is that a typo?

message 81: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 13 comments Finished! While I don't particularly like Wes, and the relationship between him and Mac just seems so cliched, I ended up liking this book more than I thought I would at the beginning.

The ending just seemed too Hollywood ending for me, but the writing throughout the book was beautiful and poetic. And while the switching back and forth between past and present confused and annoyed me at first, it began to fall into place, and I began to love the way the two parts of her life merged into one.
