Ruthann One of the most difficult concepts to get across to middle schoolers is the idea of a function. I discovered that the section of Anno's Math Games II on the Magic Machine is a perfect introduction to functions for 12-year-olds. They "get it" from just those few pages of this book. They even "get" the idea of inverse functions! To me this alone makes the book deserve 10 stars, if I could give them.
