Amra | 2 comments Hello,
my name is Amra and I am a cozy mystery fan.
What would be the title you would like to recommend?
I have recently finished reading M. C. Beaton Hamish Macbeth and I need a new series :)

You might also want to try Nancy Atherton's Aunt Dimity series, and Carola Dunn's Daisy Dalrymple series. The first book in each series has been a monthly read for the group.

Are you looking for series with a similar setting or time period? Or a certain type of character?haracters?

Nancy (nancyjcohen) | 42 comments I just finished Murder at the Breakers by Alyssa Maxwell. Murder at the Breakers (Gilded Newport Mysteries #1) by Alyssa Maxwell
It's the debut title of the Gilded Newport series. Check it out if you like historical mysteries. Plot twists, page-turning suspense, and endearing characters will make you eagerly anticipate the sequel.

Ramla Zareen Ahmad | 107 comments Hi,

I hope that I am not too late with the recommendations...!

Some of my favourite series are:

1) Death on Demand Mystery Series by Carolyn G. Hart

First Book Death On Demand (Death On Demand, #1) by Carolyn G. Hart

This series features Annie Laurance, proprietor of the 'Death on Demand' book store, located in the fictional South Carolina island community of Broward's Rock. The mysteries are finely plotted, the writing is polished and entertaining ...and the romance part is also good as the protagonist is happily involved with a steady partner. The only drawback could be that the books contain a little profanity here and there, but in my opinion, not so much as to spoil the overall ambience.

2) White House Chef Mystery Series by Julie Hyzy

First Book State of the Onion (A White House Chef Mystery, #1) by Julie Hyzy

Though I started the series with the second book which I enjoyed very much Hail to the Chef (A White House Chef Mystery, #2) by Julie Hyzy

This series features Olivia (Ollie) Paras, White House assistant (later, executive) chef, in Washington DC.

A wonderful Cozy Mystery Series, in my opinion...! Mysteries are finely plotted with satisfying conclusions. Characters are interesting. Especially the protagonist comes across to me as a smart, caring and loyal person. The writing style is both refined and entertaining, with a desired amount of decent humour, and the language is clean. The romantic element is unsettled in the first few books in the series, but after that it is wonderful as the protagonist becomes happily involved with a steady partner who both respect and appreciates her.

3) Jane Jeffry Mystery Series by Jill Churchill

4) Angie Amalfi Mystery Series by Joanne Pence

5) Cupcake Bakery Mystery Series by Jenn McKinlay

First book Sprinkle with Murder (Cupcake Bakery Mystery, #1) by Jenn McKinlay

This series feature bakery owners, Melanie "Mel" Cooper and Angie DeLaura.

Delightful setting, interesting characters, finely plotted mysteries, entertaining writing style, clean language. So another wonderful series, however in my opinion there is one drawback: love-triangles...which I really hope soon get resolved...!

6) Flower Shop Mystery Series by Kate Collins

Well, I really hope that my contribution is of some help...!

Kay (Brigidsmomma) Compton (brigidsmomma) | 122 comments I'd recommend the Aunt Bessie series by Diana Xarissa. Set in the Isle of Man in the late 90's (I think), it's a really good who-dun-it series as well as a cozy.

message 7: by Valerie (last edited Apr 29, 2015 10:37AM) (new)

Valerie (valeriemichigan) My favorite cozy series are:

1) The Bibliophile Series by Kate Carlisle

Brooklyn, the main character, is an expert in book restoration and conservation. The characters in the books are quirky and lovable. The action is fast-paced but not really thriller-fast. The mysteries sometimes seem straight forward but there's usually some sort of twist you don't see coming. Thoroughly enjoyable.

2) Lucy Valentine Series by Heather Webber

Lucy and her family specialize in matchmaking, but Lucy's matchmaking abilities were zapped out of her by a freak thunderstorm when she was a teen. Instead, she's developed an ability to find lost objects and thereby can help find lost people based on gifts others have given them. Again, the characters are quirky and lovable. It's one of the few cozy series I enjoy reading again and again, even tho' I know "who done it".

3. The Wishcraft series by Heather Blake

Darcy is a wishcrafter, meaning a witch who can grant wishes. She lives in a section of Salem, MA with other crafters, who utilize their talents to run various businesses. There are lots of great secondary characters in this series and the author has made it very easy for me to imagine the town and the setting as well as the characters.

I have other series I like as well, including the Cupcake Bakery series mentioned by Ramla above, but these are my 3 favorite. :)

I love Aunt Bessie, I have read 4 of the books so far and I like all of the characters she has with her especially Doona, her best friend. I wonder if there will be more than the six that I know of right now?

Diana Dunn (dianaxdunn) | 2 comments Thank you to everyone who has said kind words about Aunt Bessie! There will definitely be more as I LOVE writing about her and her friends. Book seven is at the editing stage now and should be out in October and I just spent some time doing very rough preliminary outlines for the four books that I'm planning for 2016. If book 8 goes the way I'm planning, there will be lots of Doona in that one! (Can't give too much away for now, in case it turns out to be a different book when I actually write it!)

Thanks again for your support!

Diana

Mary (mw8019) | 273 comments Great! I will be looking for them on Amazon. I read all the time and Aunt Bessie is now my best friend. I have advanced ordered number 6 and will wait for 7 and 8.

Doona needs a husband so she will stop worrying so much about Aunt Bessie. Hugh has Grace now and so John can do the worrying about Aunt Bessie.

I will be on the look out for the new books thank you so much!

Mary
