I just finished the second Walking Dead Compendium and now I'm going to read a John Ringo book called Under The Graveyard Sky that my boyfriend has been hounding me to read. I'm still working on The Wizard of Oz. Not loving that one.

I so want that second Compendium.I've been curious about that Ringo book too. You'll have to let me know how it is.
Kara wrote: "Totally Becky! His reading of Jake completely suits my imaginings of the character, and he moves back into such a different narrator voice so seamlessly it's great!"Yep. There were some things that I didn't care for in his reading (I mentioned them in my reviews) but for the most part, it was excellent and really made the experience that much better.

Still working on 'Weather Witch'. The torturous descriptions seem to have been toned down a bit - or at least I've become more inured to them. But I can't say I really care a lick about anyone or anything about the story...
Very disappointing, as I was quite looking forward to this one - being set in Philly and all.

Nooooo! I just agreed to buddy read it with someone on BL and I already bought a HB copy of the danged thing.
Chris wrote: "I think I'm going on an official Buddy Read Ban."Noooooooooo!!! *cries*
You're still going to read Equal Rites with me though, right? It's #3...technically, I'm helping your challenge...unlike the others. Ahem. (>_>) (<_<)
Chris wrote: "I think I'm going on an official Buddy Read Ban."I think I might just join you.
I'm getting so bogged down and its only MARCH.
Yes, Jackie. The one book I've completed this year that's actual progress in a series was Discworld #2 with you. I'm good for Equal Rites...You're like my partner in a rehab program.
*fist bumps, Chris* LOL. You guys should really consider not nominating series reads for group reads (at least for a month or two) or at least pick series that are easy to complete. There are standalones in fantasy, right?
MrsJoseph wrote: "Nooooo! I just agreed to buddy read it with someone on BL and I already bought a HB copy of the danged thing."Sorry. But you might still like it...
Or, at least, if you're doing a buddy read you can slam the book together. That could be fun. ;)

Is this a rhetorical question? ô_o
Of next month's reads, while Seraphina is "technically" a series, it reads like a standalone and there's no release date for #2. Vicious is a standalone. Madman's Daughter is one of two. And, yes, the Vorkosigan Saga is insane, but it had been talked about so much here I would have been starting it this year anyway.
I'm proceeding through my March reading list at a very rapid pace (my attentiveness during work has dropped due to sleep deprivation lol).I've got 4 left out of 9 books I was planning on getting through. Who knows, I might even get to a 10th book this month.
So, Vorkosigan Saga...Am I starting an epic re-read with some fine, fine friends here on Flights of Fantasy. Hmm?!?!
*tries to stay calm*
Laurel - you must have missed the announcement for next month's reads. I was wondering why you hadn't freaked out about the Vorkosigan Saga win yet. ;)
Chris wrote: "At least those Vorko books aren't 1000 pages each."I absolutely LOVE long books, but I've read 4(ish), 700+ pages books this month so far and it's starting to get to me. I'll be so happy to switch to the Dresden Files for some shorter books.
I DID miss the announcement, and the fact that people may read EVEN ONE makes me a little faint!*and now we do the dance of joy*
Laurel wrote: "Find an appropriate person to give you a Canadian style polar bear hug!"Or an inappropriate one, for an extra thrill...

From what I remember of Seraphina there were too many loose ends left to say that it reads like a standalone.
Really? I felt like it wrapped up well (but did leave things open ended somewhat). I mean, even standalones leave some parts of the world to question - unless you have some crazy Harry Potter-esque epilogue, that's just the nature of things. I guess we can discuss it next month! :)
Emily wrote: "Madman's Daughter is one of two. "One of two so far. According to the series page it looks like it's going to be a trilogy, which the third book released next year.
Trilogies seem to be the big thing these days - which I'm ok with. I certainly prefer it to the never-ending series, anyway. (You couldn't even get me to begin to consider the Vorko saga.)

I just checked and the next one is not out until 2015. I think I'm going to wait until then to re-read or maybe once the series is complete.

It was really good. I love Walking Dead!
And so far the Ringo book is kicking it. It starts out intense and just hits the ground running. All things zombie for Felina!
Missed the Vorkosigan announcement as well. I've actually never started that one, but have been interested in it. Anyone know if the audio is any good?
I listened to several of the titles in audio (from Overdrive) a few years ago and IIRC thought they were pretty good.
So guys, it's been awhile since I've been on! I'm currently reading The Blade Itself and I am loving it!

There are a few lurking in our area. For many, reading is a solitary act. Sometimes you got to shake the tree to get their attention.
So haven't done much reading this month apart from Words of RadianceStarted Gardens of the Moon but at the moment that just feels like stroking a wet cat backwards.
Must say, struggling to read anything else after WoR as it just doesn't have that same feel. Luckily, Scott Lynch is always smooth reading and so far I'm enjoying The Republic of Thieves.
Not sure after that - maybe Ready Player One, Furies of Calderon, The Copper Promise or The Emperor's Blades. Have to try Michael J. Sullivan as well.
Maybe a recommendation or two guys & gals? Need something that kicks ass!
Reading Words of Radiance and A Storm of Swords… yeah… didn't learn my lesson about reading two large epic fantasy tomes at the same time. Also, read The House of Silk: A Sherlock Holmes Novel. A non Conan Doyle Sherlock Holmes that I actually enjoyed.
Thanks Nan!Eon,
I've been impressed with Michael J. Sullivan's work, but I'm not sure what your in the mood to read. =)
It's good 'ol epic fantasy, written simply. Magic, elves, and swashbuckling adventures... likable characters, plots to overthrow the empire, and just enough missing information to keep you intrigued. Be ready to pick up the next book if you start.

Ooooh. Thanks Kara :)
That sounds exactly like what I need right now!
Eon wrote: "That sounds exactly like what I need right now! ..."The audio is also excellent... Enjoy and let us know what you think.

Will do. As a side note - anyone else also a fan of Elspeth Cooper's The Wild Hunt series?
I'm currently reading [Neil Gaiman: American Gods], and so far it seems like a promising novel. Hopefully it is as good as reviews say!
