Bonnie Ferrante (bonnieferrante) | 14 comments Hi Goodreads Librarian,
I've made a muddle of things that I hope you can help me. I asked Monica https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/7... to be a beta reader for my book "Water and Fire". After she finished she created a book on good reads and posted her review here https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1.... It shows a book with no cover. I thought it should have a cover so I added one but it turns out it's not the final copy. The title also changed to "Desiccate" Is it possible to amalgamate everything into one book cover, this one http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IOVV11Y with the correct title and the glow behind the lettering? The paperback should be up in a day or so. I have had no other reviews but there are some on the way. Thank you.
Bonnie Ferrante

Susie (dragonsusie) | 2469 comments Is the book that was rated a physical copy? If so, then the cover and title that was on that ARC needs to remain with the ARC as an alternate-cover edition (the ISBN will then be moved to the new edition). Which also means that both editions need to remain, the one being the as-of-yet unreleased copy and the other being the ARC.

If you can confirm this detail, I can tidy it up for you.

Bonnie Ferrante (bonnieferrante) | 14 comments Not a physical copy. I sent her a manuscript in docx.

Thank you.

Susie (dragonsusie) | 2469 comments OK, I have merged the two editions and have changed the cover of the paperback: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2....

Noticed afterwards that you'd actually linked to the Kindle edition, so I added that seperately: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2....

Susie, did the policy re: ARCs change recently? I was not aware that it had to be a physical copy for it to 'count' for GR's purposes.

I ask due to personal interest. 95% of the ARCs that I've received have been in some e-format.

I was basing it on the fact of an ARC with a cover. If there's no cover, then there's no need for an ACE. An ebook ARC that had a cover would need an ACE, but she said that she sent a Word doc manuscript, which wouldn't have a cover (well, I am assuming that no cover would be attached to a text manuscript, none that I've known, anyway), so doesn't need an ACE.

Karma♥Bites ^.~ (karma_bites) | 947 comments Yes, in this instance. But your first question specifically included, and only addressed, a 'physical copy'. Which is why I asked. :)

Also, I noted that the author didn't actually address whether or not the DOCX sent as ARC included a cover. She only answered your question re: physical copy.

(FWIW, many of my e-ARCs, even some as Word doc, are sent w/ a cover.)
