Hello there, Struggling Writers! Welcome to our March 2014 poetry contest for our Struggling Writers. This thread will officially be open for submissions starting Saturday, March 1st, 2014.

Theme:
Springtime is almost here! Write a poem that embraces the upcoming season, and make sure that you include the following four words in your poem somewhere (and also put them in bold so they're easy to spot):
-Violet
-Sunbeam
-Innocence
-Blossom

Entry Deadline:
Saturday, March 22nd at 12:00AM EST

Winning Prize:
The winning short story will be featured in the April 2014 Struggling Writers Newsletter. :)

Rules/Guidelines:

*Entries cannot exceed more than 700 words.

*No swearing/vulgar language or inappropriate (18+) entries.

*Any entries submitted after 12:00AM on Saturday, March 22nd will not be accepted.

*All entries must be in the form of a poem.

Spring Vortex by Kristopher

Deep freeze ends
Spring begins
No more polar winds

Sunbeams descend
On snow white innocence

March showers
April flowers
The sun empowers

The daylight hours
Summon the violet

Song birds sing
Stretch their wings
Stir the winds of spring

The weather swings
Forming a Spring Vortex

Warming sun
Waters run
The flowers blossom

Life is awesome
In the warm Spring Vortex
