Whisperkit carefully crept out of the nursery entrance, relieved her mother and siblings were still dozing. She knew her presence would be missed soon enough and so she hurried away. She bounced around the camp, tail high in the air while she looked around for any warriors to pester. Seeing none after a quick look, Whisperkit poked around at one of the entrances to the camp. She gave a curious sniff to see if she could smell the forest. Guilty that she felt the urge to go out and explore, she looked around for any of the warriors before taking a few more steps. Taking another sniff she realized that she was almost out of the camp. Excitement made her quiver with delight and her bushy tail fluffed out behind her like a banner in the wind.

Whisperkit froze in her tracks, a squeak of terror escaped her mouth and her fur fluffed out in fear as she gazed up at Stormstar. After a moment, brave defiance replaced the fear and she looked at her leader with confidence, "I was just sniffing. I wanted to be ready to know what outside smelt like!"

"Mousedung!" Whisperkit murmured under her breath. She had been foiled again. This had not been her first attempt to step paws into the forest. Her disappointment didn't last long as she spotted a leaf floating in the air and she scampered after it, bouncing around camp hunting her new prey.

Blossomcloud exited the warrior's den with a yawn. She had overslept this morning, but she had been on a late night border patrol last night. Stifling a chuckle she watched as Whisperkit bounded after a leaf in the clearing. She sat down and curled her tail around her paws and kept watching with amusement. The young kit reminded her of her kithood. She noticed Stormstar nearby and dipped her head to her leader.

Whisperkit charged around the clearing, which was oddly empty other than a few warriors. Even her siblings hadn't come out of the nursery yet. The leaf floating tantalizing her, just out of reach. Crouching down, she decided to try for it anyway. She tried to perfect her hunting crouch since Stormstar was probably still watching her making sure she behaved. Giving a little wiggle before she leaped, Whisperkit flew into the air and managed to hook a claw into the leaf before pinning it to the ground with a heavy paw. Her tail fluttered up high behind her as she looked around with pride, curious if anyone had seen her catch. Surely they would make her an apprentice soon.

((She and her two siblings are 6 moons old, just need to see who would want to be a mentor to them more or less))

Whisperkit fluffed out in pride at Stormstar's nod, but was quickly distracted by the mossball and began batting it around quickly. She paused and looked at the nursery, wondering where her littermates were, surely they would have been out by now and could enjoy a fun game.

Willowleaf yawned as he walked out of his den. He shook his fluffy gray pelt and blinked a few times, examining the camp. He smiled lightly and sat down.

"Willowleaf!" Whisperkit mewled and bounded over to the deputy. "Did you see the leaf I caught?" The kit was torn between acting composed and mature and bouncing around with excitement. "It was flying really high! And I got it all by myself without Foxkit or Darkkit!"

Willowleaf smiled down at the kit. "That's amazing!" He exclaimed. He lowered his head to meet her gaze. "Lets see it then." He whispered.

Whisperkit scampered over to the leaf and carried it back over to Willowleaf, "See! It was invading the camp and no one else could stop it!" Her tail flew up high behind her as she explained.

Willowleaf laughed and looked at the leaf. "Very good!" He exclaimed. "You'll be a good warrior, I know it."

[Krystle, Senior Mod]

"I can't wait!" She bounced around excited. "Can you teach me a hunting move Willowleaf?" Whisperkit stopped and looked up at him with big eyes, begging.

Willowleaf smiled and nodded. "Okay." He said. He walked over to the middle of camp. "Come here." He instructed.

Joy bubbled up from Whisperkit's toys into every strand of fur as she bounded over to Willowleaf. She danced around his feet, "What's first?" She knew her siblings would be jealous that she was getting a lesson from the deputy!

Willowleaf leaned his head down to her level. "This ones called the Belly Rake." He said. He stood straight up again and back up. "When you're underneath your opponent, the belly take puts you back in control. If your forelegs are pinned down then use your hind legs to scratch their belly top to bottom." He smiled at the kit. "But if your forelegs are free use those instead."

Whisperkit nodded, her eyes wide, "Can I try it?" She was a little nervous, but her eagerness got the better of her. She would do her best not to fail completely on her first try.

Willowleaf titled his head left and right in thought. "Why not?" He said and smiled.

[Krystle, Senior Mod]

"Yay!" She cheered and crouched in front of him and lashed her tail behind her, "You're a big mean ShadowClan cat and I'm defending the nursery!" Since she wasn't pinned she guessed she had to slide under him and swipe at his belly. She wasn't sure how she'd attack from her back since she was upright, but she dashed between his front legs anyway. Twisting around to get a better angle she swiped at his belly with her front legs, claws sheathed of course.

Willowleaf laughed and rolled onto his side, pretending to be hurt. "Oh you've got me!" He exclaimed. Then he closed his eyes and stuck out his tongue. "Ehhh....." He mumbled.

[Krystle, Senior Mod]

Whisperkit squealed in delight, "I defeated ShadowClan!" She bounced around Willowleaf, tail streaming behind her. Even though she was at the age for being an apprentice, the kit greatly enjoyed playing pretend. She poked at his belly with a paw, "I want to try it again, but pinned like you described it."

Willowleaf opened one eye and nodded. Then he stood up and smiled down at the adorable kit. "Lets go!" He exclaimed and pinned her down gently.

"Eep!" She squealed, pretending to be scared. "You can't get to the kits!" She mewed defiantly, still pretending. Whisperkit rolled her back legs up to her stomach and kicked her back legs against Willowleaf's belly, starting from his front legs and going down. She felt like a rabbit like this with her long back legs curled up.

Willowleaf fell over again. He gave a short breath and let limp. "I'm dead." He said and stood up.

"I won!" Whisperkit bounced around Willowleaf again. "You're the best Willowleaf!" She mewed, purring. "How did I do?"

Willowleaf smiled. "You did great!" He exclaimed. "You're going to be a fantastic warrior."

"Stormstar said that too!" She purred more, "When do you think she'll make us apprentices?" She asked, referring her siblings as well as herself. "I can't wait! I'll train extra hard!"

Willowleaf looked over at the leader's den entrance and sighed. "I can't tell the future." He said. "But I know that she'll give you a mentor that can handle all this excitement!"

Whisperkit's eyes widened, "Do you think so? I can't help it! Thinking about being a warrior and helping everyone just makes me happy. I want to be the best!" Her tail tip twitched as she tried to stay still.

Willowleaf half-smiled and sat down. "I'm certain." He said. "I remember when I was your age. All wound up and bouncing of trees." He looked up at the sky and smiled as the wind ruffled his fur.

Whisperkit looked up eagerly, "Will you tell me about it?" She loved hearing stories from the older cats.

Willowleaf nodded and rested his head on his paws. "I was your age, hyper and exited." He said. "Then came the day of my apprenticeship. I was the most nervous I had ever been in my life. Why? Because I was the only one of my siblings to make it that far. I was assigned a mentor and we started immediately. Actually, we started that day. We patrolled the borders and marked trees. It was the best day if my life."

Whisperkit eyes widened, scared, "What happened to your littermates?" She was suddenly worried about Foxkit and Darkkit.

Willoeleaf sighed. "A long time ago, when I was your age maybe even younger. There was a great battle between Shadowclan and every other clan. They had grown stronger and faster and smarter." He sat up straight and looked down at the kit. "They eventually took over the land and scared all the other cats away. But then, one brave cat killed the leader of Shadowclan and that was the end of the Great Battle." He closed his eyes and memories if screams and blood came into his thoughts. He opened them and smiled when he saw Whisperkit.

Whisperkit looked up at Willowleaf with sadness, "Just like in the stories Roseclaw told me?" She asked. "I'm sorry about your littermates." She flicked her tail against his shoulder when he smiled, "What happened when you were an apprentice?" She hoped something happier would cheer him up.

Willowleaf frowned in thought. "We trained. A lot. My mentor taught me everything there was to know. Even the dishonorable battle moves." He said. "We also were the best team, him and I. We hunted a lot. We could supply the whole clan, only me and him!"

[Krystle, Senior Mod]

"Really?" Whisperkit looked at Willowleaf in awe, "I want to be that good at taking care of the clan! You think you can be my mentor?"

Willowleaf shrugged. "We'll never know until your apprenticeship." He said.

[Krystle, Senior Mod]

Whisperkit didn't let that bother her, "I know Stormstar picks my mentor. I just hope it's you. I think you're the best!" Her mew sounded happy and excited again as she thought about her hopefully soon to be apprenticeship.

Willowleaf smiled. "There are many warriors that would love to have you as an apprentice." He said. "But, I have to admit, I hope it's me, too."

[Krystle, Senior Mod]

Whisperkit purred, she was happy to hear that Willowleaf wanted her to be his apprentice. Being the deputy's apprentice would be an honor, she thought to herself. "Ohhhh, I wish it was today!" She mewed again, bouncing impatiently.

Willowleaf laughed and sat down. He closed his eyes and day dreamt of how he would train this hyper little leaf-killing kit.

Whisperkit stretched out a bit and yawned. Her adventures today seemed to be catching up with her and her eyes dropped a bit sleepily. She shook herself awake when she heard her belly rumble. Embarrassed, "Can I go get a mouse from the fresh-kill pile?" She flicked her tail in the direction of the small pile of rodents. "I'll take some to Roseclaw and my brother and sister too."

Willowleaf smiled and nodded. "You need any help with that?" He asked.

[Krystle, Senior Mod]

"You'll help? I'd have to make several trips by myself." Whisperkit mewed, her eyes glittering with mischief as she leaned close and whispered, "Just between you and me, I think Foxkit is a bit of a pig." She giggled and bounced over to kill pile and picked out a couple mice for her siblings and a vole for her mother.

Willowleaf rolled his eyes and laughed as he trotted over to the fresh kill pile. He picked up a mouse and thrush and looked down at Whisperkit. "Is this enough?" He asked.

Her eyes widened, "That's a lot of prey! Were you going to eat with us?" She asked excited, "I want to tell Roseclaw all about what you taught me!" She flicked her tail excitedly.

Willowleaf looked at Riverwhisp and nodded. "That would be nice." He replied to both of them. "I'd be honored to eat with you."

Willowleaf looked at Whisperkit. "Lead the way." He said.

[Krystle, Senior Mod]

"Yay!" The kit mewed, delighted. She carried as much as she could, happy the warriors were helping her feed her family. She bounded into the nursery.
