If Ry-O is staking his future claim on Dani, why is he sleeping with Jo?

Ok, this question drove me crazy. If Ry-O is viewing Dani as his "investment" to one day be Mac to his Barrons, why does he sleep with Jo? How would Dani ever want to be with someone like him who sleeps around so much, not to mention who has totally bullied and abused her? Is he that oblivious? Is he trying to help her grow up extra fast, hoping she will feel jealousy? In the book he seems to be pushing her to grow up emotionally (their whole discussion about love), but then at other times protecting her naievete. It is clear that Dani doesn't think she is attracted to Ryodan, but that she is still jealous of Jo and him.
Also, I wondered if one of the reasons why Jo came to the dungeon to rescue Dani in the first place is because she was attracted by Ryodan and secretly wanted to be near him.
Does anyone else think that if Dani and Ryodan are ever going to get together he may have to stop sleeping around for a bit beforehand as a sign of respect for her? He is a smart man; he should know that!

Because he is a man... A very very old ancient one at that. As crass as it may sound, he has sexual needs. Period. Needs that could not possibly be fulfilled by Dani @ this time. And there are so many other things that Dani is not ready for either when it comes to a relationship, not just the sex. Ryo understands her potential and the kind of woman she may grow to be. He's not going to do anything that could hinder or hurt that. And since they are not in a relationship, why is it so wrong for him to have a sexual relationship with another woman? Jo is not the 1st woman he has been with like that. And I'm sure not the last. If/when he and Dani get together, I'm sure he'll be faithful to her but until those days come, he's free to be with & do who ever he wants. I don't see anything wrong with that.

I think he even mentions that if he doesn't release his energy with sex, he will end up killing things and being even a larger jack ass.
he is a man but not just a man. I think his whole thing with jo is proximity and attraction the fact that she is more than human(like dani) but not fae. i also see a parallel between jo and dani and mac and alana, older sister being involved with dangerous guy and all. then following in her footsteps.
Ry-O is an ancient primal animal. He is waiting for Dani to grow up. Jo is important but he is not thinking long term. So, Dani is the long term goal and Jo is the here and now.
Ok, I am in the middle of re=reading this.. almost done like 5/15 pages left...or so. I don't think Roydan is thinking of Dani like that. But what did sorta freak me was the convo that Roydan has been watching Dani since she was 9 years old..???!!!!
Christian on the other hand is getting freakier by the minute and worse with the hots for Dani.
Dancer, always seems to be totally cute and almost bland compared to the other guys in Danis' life, until near the end where they are dealing with the stuff outside the Abbey. (im trying not to spoil it here) And Kat has that empath thought about Dancer, deep dark secrets etc.. Makes me wonder what it is?!! And if he is gonna be dangerous or what..

As of Iced, I don't think Ryodan is looking to stake a sexual claim on Dani. If he's looking for Dani to be his version of Mac, it's more out of her usefulness than a potential future relationship. Mac was very useful to Barrons with her Sidhe-Seer abilities. Dani, with different but equally useful abilities, has the potential to serve a purpose under Ryodan other than being literally under Ryodan. I'm not saying there isn't a chance that later, as she gets older (she still is only 14 or 15 in Iced), there isn't a potential relationship there, but I don't think that's the investment he's considering.

As a business owner, unless you enjoy burning money and have a virtually unlimited supply, the primary task is to look as far ahead as possible and figure out who and what you're willing to bet your money on. Dani is a good investment, once she's tempered a bit.

I agree Michielle, he has stated that he actually NEEDS this sexual energy and to release it...kinda like Christian needs to as an unseely prince....when he doesnt kill them lol.I do not know if he is planning on Dani being his mate...i really am leaning towards him ending up being her real father or something...although it would be totallly hot for them to hook up! Christian is not an option i dont think bc he is turning completely evil and Dani would NEVER succumb to that...Dancer's secrets i think are going to be huge, like maybe he is not human after all, and she will most likely end up with him.
I am wandering if he is her father and is actually looking for her of fatherly interes not as sexual. But I do not like that even one bit
I have a question that has been bothering me a bit. When Dani returns to Chesters with Christians clothes, why are all Ryodans men looking at her like they're mad at her for smelling of Christian? Why do they care?
