Kindle with Oprah's notes

Loved this book, I read the hard cover edition and highly recommend it. I just found out how many people were disappointed with the Kindle version with Oprah's notes. Many only gave this book a one-star rating on Amazon for this reason: the book didn't read smoothly with Oprah's "interruptions". I wondered what members of Goodreads think about this version. The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd

I made a point to read the version without the notes because of all those comments on Amazon!

I totally agree with you Cathy. I somehow got the Oprah version, and not even on a kindle. I found it completely disruptive and frustrating. Who really cares if Oprah likes it or not. I love her, but have found that several of the books that she's recommended aren't at all to my liking. My opinion;)

I read the hardcover version as well. I don't want anyone's notes in my books unless it is a textbook. This is as good as SECRET LIFE OF BEES, even better as it is a different era & situation but much better than MERMAID CHAIR.

I listened to the audio version this winter while shoveling snow. I loved the narration The two actresses added so much texture and urgency to the story. I'm glad I didn't know it was an Oprah book until after I'd finished. I tend to not choose her picks. I can't imagine reading it with her notes and thought bubbles. On its own Wings is a beautiful thought provoking story.
