18 books ahead of schedule at the moment...but it's now the Easter holidays so I'm hoping to get a chance to read even more
After a several year drought of reading (due to the closure of local libraries/funds) I was finally converted by a second hand paperwhite and it's totally changed me this year.I didn't want to set a crazy goal (for me) of say 50 just in case, usually having only read one book a month or so -or less- due to the above I decided on 20 and am so far 6 ahead! The best feeling for me is that some of these are not short story type books either, I've really devoured some solid-length non-fiction which means that in the 12 read so far this year I've consumed approximately *6406* pages!
Huge change from the norm, which has really just improved my overall quality of life.
I changed my goal from 60 to 100 books, but I'm currently 56 books ahead of schedule (90/100). I'm getting ready to tackle some major works (Anna Karenina, Don Quixote, East of Eden, and Les Miserables) so those will definitely slow me down! I'm probably going to start with AK first and move my way through the list as I finish 1. I need to have discipline and read a little bit of these books every day and then spend the rest of the time reading other books. We'll have to see how it all plays out, lol.

That's seriously awesome! I had a major drought in the years I was doing a ton of knitting and crocheting and that's when I started training my brain and ear to listen to audiobooks. This was probably 3-4 years ago? But last year is when I really kicked it up a notch and started listening regularly. This year I'm adding some serious literature and some nonfiction to my usual fare, but also reading books from all different genres. As you said, it has greatly improved my quality of life!
5 books behind now. I am seriously debating dropping my goal. Since February I have read nothing but books by Diana Gabaldon. Her novella's are 500 pages. lol
1 book ahead of schedule! Which is so exciting because for the next 2 months I'll have much more free time then I've had all year.
Roseanne, your book count may be low but your page count will be higher.
Congrats to everyone ahead of schedule!
Congrats to everyone ahead of schedule!
Now 7 books behind and reading the 7th book in the Outlander series. Kind of amused by that. This one and the next and I am out of big books to read. Wonder if I can catch up after that?

53/100 - 9 books ahead of schedule! I' have been on a mission the past couple of months to catch up (I was 19 behind). I have a hard time reading during tax season with all the hours I have to work. I was feeling pretty defeated with my 19 behind back at the end of March but man does it feel good to be ahead.
17/30, 57% and 4 books ahead of schedule.
With now working full time, and recovering from essentially a year off from reading, I thought I'd relax into life with a far easier goal than I previously would have done. However, working in a library definitely has you picking up and reading way more books than I expected.

I’m at 81% which is amazing after last year. I’m not going to increase my goal though. I like the feeling of being ahead for awhile.
PS. Hi, Holly!!! So happy to see you! You’ve been missed. <3

8 behind now but I have just started the last of the big books I plan on reading this year....well unless the one I am waiting for gets published before the end of the year. Then we shall see if I can actually catch up
I'm 18 books ahead! Planned to read 60 for the year (since I'm turning 60) and I've already read 47. So I've adjusted my goal to read 60 before I actually turn 60 in September. Should be easy to read 13 more over the next couple of months! At that point I'll actually adjust the goal in GoodReads. :-)
I am now 10 books behind and coming to the end of what I think will be the last big book of the year for me. Now it's time to see if I can catch up.
70/75 books read, 23 ahead of schedule. Increased from 52 and I should be done soon. Probably not increasing it again; got some chunksters I want to get to before the year is over.
7 books behind. At the rate I've been reading "books" this year the grand count will be larger than that of my only a dozen books to read goal. I might have to lower the goal number to feel better.I've had no real motivation this year. Opportunities to read at work are there I just don't feel like taking them like I have done in past years. When at home I feel like doing other stuff. Plus as I've said in the past I do a lot of online reading both at home and at work.
My widget now says I am 3 books behind now. 32/50. Is it ok if I threw in a few books that are only about 200 pages long? It feels like I cheated a bit.
75/75 books read. Done for this year. Read more than I expected considering I didn't get much done the first few months this year.
Roseanne, you can use any books you read this year. Some of the books I read were only about 100 pages long.
That long book is like 7 short books! But I know what you mean. But after reading a long book, I do tend to read short books for a while.
I am at 33/50 right now. I am intentionally reading short books because I read a number of big books this year. Was not part of the plan when I decided on 50.

At least the Big Books are good! And how great does it feel to make progress in checking some of those off your list?!
