At least the Big Books are good! And how great does it feel to make progress in checking some of those off your list?!

message 552: by Sara (new)

Sara Eames | 9 comments 18 books ahead of schedule at the moment...but it's now the Easter holidays so I'm hoping to get a chance to read even more

Paul | 1 comments After a several year drought of reading (due to the closure of local libraries/funds) I was finally converted by a second hand paperwhite and it's totally changed me this year.

I didn't want to set a crazy goal (for me) of say 50 just in case, usually having only read one book a month or so -or less- due to the above I decided on 20 and am so far 6 ahead! The best feeling for me is that some of these are not short story type books either, I've really devoured some solid-length non-fiction which means that in the 12 read so far this year I've consumed approximately *6406* pages!

Huge change from the norm, which has really just improved my overall quality of life.

sonya marie madden | 437 comments Horray Paul. I've read 30 out of 75. Most of my books are over 200 pages. I'm 7 books ahead.

Roseanne | 1239 comments I am now 6 books behind.

Susy (susysstories) | 468 comments 12 books ahead of schedule: 31/55 (56%)

message 560: by Eileen (new)

Eileen | 1854 comments I changed my goal from 60 to 100 books, but I'm currently 56 books ahead of schedule (90/100). I'm getting ready to tackle some major works (Anna Karenina, Don Quixote, East of Eden, and Les Miserables) so those will definitely slow me down! I'm probably going to start with AK first and move my way through the list as I finish 1. I need to have discipline and read a little bit of these books every day and then spend the rest of the time reading other books. We'll have to see how it all plays out, lol.

That's seriously awesome! I had a major drought in the years I was doing a ton of knitting and crocheting and that's when I started training my brain and ear to listen to audiobooks. This was probably 3-4 years ago? But last year is when I really kicked it up a notch and started listening regularly. This year I'm adding some serious literature and some nonfiction to my usual fare, but also reading books from all different genres. As you said, it has greatly improved my quality of life!

message 562: by Roseanne (new)

Roseanne | 1239 comments 5 books behind now. I am seriously debating dropping my goal. Since February I have read nothing but books by Diana Gabaldon. Her novella's are 500 pages. lol

message 563: by Dara (new)

Dara | 4 comments 1 book ahead of schedule! Which is so exciting because for the next 2 months I'll have much more free time then I've had all year.

Roseanne, your book count may be low but your page count will be higher.

Congrats to everyone ahead of schedule!

Karolina (ukarolinau) | 1 comments 2 books behind schedule :( I got into a reading slump and slowly im getting out of it.

message 567: by Roseanne (new)

Roseanne | 1239 comments Now 7 books behind and reading the 7th book in the Outlander series. Kind of amused by that. This one and the next and I am out of big books to read. Wonder if I can catch up after that?

You can do that!

message 569: by sonya (new)

sonya marie madden | 437 comments I have read 45/75 books.

message 570: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Bean 53/100 - 9 books ahead of schedule! I' have been on a mission the past couple of months to catch up (I was 19 behind). I have a hard time reading during tax season with all the hours I have to work. I was feeling pretty defeated with my 19 behind back at the end of March but man does it feel good to be ahead.

17/30, 57% and 4 books ahead of schedule.

With now working full time, and recovering from essentially a year off from reading, I thought I'd relax into life with a far easier goal than I previously would have done. However, working in a library definitely has you picking up and reading way more books than I expected.

I’m at 81% which is amazing after last year. I’m not going to increase my goal though. I like the feeling of being ahead for awhile.

PS. Hi, Holly!!! So happy to see you! You’ve been missed. <3

message 573: by Roseanne (new)

Roseanne | 1239 comments 8 behind now but I have just started the last of the big books I plan on reading this year....well unless the one I am waiting for gets published before the end of the year. Then we shall see if I can actually catch up

message 574: by Mary Anne (new)

Mary Anne (maryanneclement) | 253 comments I'm 18 books ahead! Planned to read 60 for the year (since I'm turning 60) and I've already read 47. So I've adjusted my goal to read 60 before I actually turn 60 in September. Should be easy to read 13 more over the next couple of months! At that point I'll actually adjust the goal in GoodReads. :-)

message 576: by Roseanne (new)

Roseanne | 1239 comments I am now 10 books behind and coming to the end of what I think will be the last big book of the year for me. Now it's time to see if I can catch up.

message 577: by Roseanne (new)

Roseanne | 1239 comments 9 books behind. Time to climb out of the hole I intentionally dug.

message 578: by Roseanne (last edited Jul 19, 2019 05:01AM) (new)

Roseanne | 1239 comments 8 books behind now. Is it wrong that I am enjoying this part?

message 579: by Roseanne (new)

Roseanne | 1239 comments 7 books behind.

message 580: by Roseanne (new)

Roseanne | 1239 comments 5 books behind. I dont think I am going to make it this year.

message 581: by sonya (new)

sonya marie madden | 437 comments 72/95 books read. I’m on a roll. Right now reading the Bachman books

message 582: by Gavin (new)

Gavin (thewalkingdude) | 209 comments 70/75 books read, 23 ahead of schedule. Increased from 52 and I should be done soon. Probably not increasing it again; got some chunksters I want to get to before the year is over.

message 583: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Bean 72/100, 9 books ahead of schedule. Slowly but surely making a dent in my TBR pile.

message 584: by Roseanne (new)

Roseanne | 1239 comments 4 books behind :)

Susy (susysstories) | 468 comments Roseanne wrote: "4 books behind :)"

Nice Roseanne! 10, 9, 8, 7, 5 and now 4. You’re doing great!

message 586: by Roseanne (new)

Roseanne | 1239 comments Thanks. Just have to stay away from the big books. More difficult thank I expected.

CaptKirk42 Classic Whovian (klandersen) | 455 comments 7 books behind. At the rate I've been reading "books" this year the grand count will be larger than that of my only a dozen books to read goal. I might have to lower the goal number to feel better.

I've had no real motivation this year. Opportunities to read at work are there I just don't feel like taking them like I have done in past years. When at home I feel like doing other stuff. Plus as I've said in the past I do a lot of online reading both at home and at work.

message 588: by Roseanne (new)

Roseanne | 1239 comments My widget now says I am 3 books behind now. 32/50. Is it ok if I threw in a few books that are only about 200 pages long? It feels like I cheated a bit.

message 589: by sonya (new)

sonya marie madden | 437 comments I think it is fine Roseanne

message 590: by Gavin (new)

Gavin (thewalkingdude) | 209 comments 75/75 books read. Done for this year. Read more than I expected considering I didn't get much done the first few months this year.

message 591: by sonya (new)

sonya marie madden | 437 comments Still at 72/95 books.

message 592: by Rosemarie, Obsessive Reader (new)

Rosemarie | 4507 comments Mod
Roseanne, you can use any books you read this year. Some of the books I read were only about 100 pages long.

message 593: by Roseanne (new)

Roseanne | 1239 comments I know it just feels weird going from a book that is 1400 pages to one that is only 150.

message 594: by sonya (new)

sonya marie madden | 437 comments 75/85 books

message 595: by Rosemarie, Obsessive Reader (new)

That long book is like 7 short books! But I know what you mean. But after reading a long book, I do tend to read short books for a while.

Rosemarie | 4507 comments Mod
Congrats, Gavin!

message 597: by Roseanne (new)

Roseanne | 1239 comments I am at 33/50 right now. I am intentionally reading short books because I read a number of big books this year. Was not part of the plan when I decided on 50.

message 598: by Roseanne (new)

Roseanne | 1239 comments 2 behind now. I am feeling super excited about this.

message 600: by Roseanne (new)

Roseanne | 1239 comments I never would have imagined this when I was 10 books behind but I am now only 1 book behind.
