Search doesn't find book

Where does Goodreads get its database?

I've been trying to add "to read" books to MY BOOKS.

I search first by author and then title and then both in same search line, and I get NO RESULTS. When I go back to Amazon or B&N and dig out the ISBN or ASIN, the database here finds it.

Are you using the search bar in your shelf (i.e. not the one at the top next to the goodreads logo but when you're in your shelf next to the batch edit link)? Because that one only searches the books you have already shelved and if you search for an ISBN instead, it will pop up a suggestion to add it because it is not in your shelves yet. That doesn't work with just title or author though. If you want to search in general, you have to use the search next to the goodreads logo as that one will search the database and not just your shelf.

That's a question for the Feedback group. Librarians only edit book records and have no control over general site functionality.
