I just want to know if we should have a page count for each day for discussion's sake. That way we don't read ahead and start discussing things that other people haven't read yet.

ok, I'm 9 chapters in, and I think start of this book is kinda boring and totally not interesting, but as I am getting 'deeper' in the book, it's getting interesting, and I'm starting to like this book, I really was so disappointed yesterday, but today I can say it's getting better.
I really love Simon, he is so funny.
Jace/Clary duo, I like them. If book ends with that BIG reveal like in the movie (it surely ends like that, or maybe not?) ahhh They are (view spoiler)[brother and sister and Valentine is their father, huh I just ended with chapter nine, where Cary finds out that her mother is Valentine's wife, surprise! :D (hide spoiler)] also why would author DO THAT (view spoiler)[make Jace and Cary to fall in love with each other and then at the end, surprise (hide spoiler)] (Don't read those spoilers if you haven't watched first movie of TMI or finished book)
The thing why I didn't liked this book at the start is because everything happened so fast, is it just me or what?

Everyone please use spoilers so nothing is ruined for others.

I'm not home now to look at the pages but we can set up a schedule and try to adhere to it, but oftentimes someone reads ahead and someone gets behind, so it needs to be flexible.

If everyone puts the chapters their spoilers cover, people can click on or not. So someone put a spoiler for ch. 9, but I won't read it until I've read chapter 9. That's really helpful to those of us that don't want spoilers that ruin it.

If you don't know how to create a spoiler, there is a thread on how to do it. If you can't figure it out, you could put SPOILER and it's an easy to see stopper! Lol

I'm excited to start this but I'm not sure I can do a book a week. I'll try!

Tuesday I got the horrible news that one of my students (14 year old freshman boy) was struck by a car and died. I've just not wanted tor do anything after work. It's been a difficult couple of days at my school. I will try to get some of it read tomorrow.

Thanks, Keara. I've just been "down" and I didn't read at all the past 2 days. I had one 65 page novella for a challenge today that I did get read, so I feel better about that. It's just so sad. The boy who died was one of four boys hit by a girl's car. She's being charged with vehicular manslaughter and it was due to her reaching for her cell phone. :o( Such a horrible moment in time that she'll have to live with for the rest of her life.

I will get to this but I just can't concentrate on it right now. Saturday I have common core training at my district and Sunday is Zach's funeral. His sister came to my classroom and gave me a "personal invite." As hard as it will be I plan to go. :o(

This is kind of answered in Chapter 18. Here's a direct quote (page 342 in my copy):

"How come I can see you guys?" Simon asked. "What happened to that invisibility magic of yours?"
"You can see us," said Jace, "because now you know the truth of what you're looking at."

I guess that kind of answers your question, but then I think they would be seen by demons/Downworlders, right? In chapter 4 (view spoiler)[they're running away from the demons (hide spoiler)], so the rune used on Clary wouldn't be useful, really.

There's a really weird line on page 339...

He glanced up at the lowering sky.

Strange choice of words... The entire sky is lowering? Why not the sun, or clouds, or even LIGHT? "Sky"?

@Keara I think a lowering sky is a very dark sky. Like when it's going to rain :)

But the sky is a constant. It doesn't move. Things IN the sky move. I know she was going for imagery but this was a weird line. e_e

Now that I'm re-reading the book, I'm realizing how much of the movie was off. I didn't catch all that they changed but now I'm just like...whoa.

I'm not sure I want them to continue making the movies...

I finished the book last night. ^_^ Not too bad, but the last two chapters were very hard to follow and the dialogue was cheesy. :S nobody actually talks like that
