We have recently thought of something pertaining to giveaways that no one else is doing. It will be really cool, we promise!

Jami Brumfield | 4 comments A book of the month would be fun as well as indepth discussions. Maybe author/fan events as well.

These are very good suggestions, we will have to talk about them at our next meeting (next week)

Clare dooley (claredooley) | 1 comments I have a blog that I use to review, beta read for authors, do cover reveals & host blog / website virtual book tours & hops. The publishers & authors usually offer swag packs or some type of rafflecopter contest.
I'd really like to help Indy authors who can't afford to advertise through Netgalley or Eidelweiss or the blog tour companies.
I've done events where I had Goodreads authors with profiles send me ecopy's of their books to read and review, got their author links, Facebook page links, website, twitter, tumblr , ect. & featured individual authors. Most were more than happy to "gift" or send an ecopy or signed book plates , buttons ect. To raffle off ( who doesn't love free?)
If the other members of this group have blogs, or wanted to guest blog... I'd love to have some fresh opinions and ideas on my own. In addition if we post links to each other readers could hear about new and upcoming Indy books. Honest reviews go A LONG WAY for self - published authors getting promoted and hopefully picked up.
We could have a section if anyone already had a blog for authors to request & explain beta reading, and chat with aspiring writers about writing groups. I'm open to anything . Hopefully this group will be able to give back & promote the book sales, while becoming friends with fresh thoughts and hopefully this can be thank you tobm

Hi Clare, we will have a standard (certain amount of reviews/ratings) that authors will have to adhere to so they can be listed for free or through any of our other programs.

This is to ensure that readers get a good quality product and an awesome read. We know there are ways dishonest authors (thankfully a very small number) can get around this and we are putting systems in place. We are not the eBook police but we agree entirely with your thoughts on "Honest" reviews.

We are also passionate about helping Indie Authors (one of the main reasons we started this company) so that anyone who does not meet this standard will be eligible for our "break out program."

We will dedicate one whole genre spot to Indie Authors.
This genre will have more free listings available per day than any other genre we list. It is our commitment to help Indie/Independent authors.

We will also encourage our audience to leave reviews for authors in any genre we list but especially this one. We want to give new, aspiring and authors without financial backing the opportunity to succeed.

To be honest, we had not really considered the whole blogging/forum side of things but it is definitely something that we are going to discuss. At the moment we are a small team of dedicated individuals who only have so much manpower. We definitely see these points as worthy of more discussion and consideration.

We were thinking of listing good reads giveaways at no charge for authors who list with us in any of our programs.

As a reader: 1.
great feature book of the month
2. brief review to psych up the reader
3.definitely signed copiers for hard core fans
4. News about favorite Indie authors and questions they have to answer, like : what are you currently reading, listening to and some type of advice.
5. section for readers who have read the books and have only positive feedback. if there is one thing on good reads is that people are always on there soap box We get if a book isn't promoted. This site should be a positive impact and be different from the usual ilk of reading opinions. Oprah dissent discuss negative things in books, neither do publishers lime penguin and Doubleday. They want to sell and give the best and most teachable.
Lastly, feature a book that you as the site controller, to have a book you pick and why. comments not included. we get the picture if no one is talking about it. class it up!

correction: I meant doesn't when I spoke about Oprah. My Kindle sneaks words in when I'm typing fast and I'm a stickler for not reading directions.

Correction again: positive feedback on the book you as a site controller select.

And: like, not lime, uggghh!
