Do you have to read the synopsis first before reading a book? Will reading the syn deter you?

For me it has. Now I'm trying to let others' reviews or suggestions of books sway me more though, I learned that with this group. After reading a synopsis of a book I would normally think - this is not a book I want to read and then be completely surprised by how much I liked it after all.

Yes. I read EVERYTHING in the book before the book itself. By this, I mean I have to read the reviews provided, the author biography, the synopsis, the Introduction if there is one, and the author's notes at the back of the novel.
