My Name Is Memory
question
Sequel Pleeaase?

I loved this book despite the slow start. The story of Daniels history with Lucy, Constance, Sofia was moving and intriguing. It took a long time for the two to reunite in the present (almost to the point where I gave up hope) but it finally happened and it paid off really well but just when it was getting exciting we're left in the lurch. The promised sequel has been put on hold because of lacklustre sales. Is there anyone else out there who is longing to know where this story leads?
.....So now it's August 2015 and every now and then, when I'm looking for something new to read I check out Brashares' site to see if there's any news re the sequels and there never is. I've checked her Facebook page too and although there are plenty of enquiries, Brashares' hasn't even had the courtesy to reply as far as I can see.
Now I'm wondering if the hold up is due to a legality. Some reviewers have highlighted similarities to a book called 'Fallen'. Could it be a plagiarism issue? 'Fallen' was published a year before MNIM, both authors live in NY (or at least did at the time) and Brashares worked as an editor briefly so it's possible the 'Fallen' manuscript crossed her desk. From all accounts (I haven't read Fallen) the similarities begin and end with the main characters identical names. A secondary issue being a grey area around the idea of reincarnation versus immortality (providing both male protagonists with very long memories).
Now before you all jump to conclusions I might add that publication dates prove nothing in terms of origin of concept. From what I've read in the forums, MNIM is a much more sophisticated read than 'Fallen' and a well written story will always take longer to write than a simple one so don't assume Brashares is the culprit here just because her story was published later. I'm keeping an open mind and I could be way off the mark anyway.
Another theory is that she's unhappy with her publisher and is waiting until her contract ends so she can publish under a new label?
She's still writing. I've just finished 'The Here and Now', a far inferior book in my opinion, and that still managed to get picked up, albeit by a different publisher. Anne Brashares, what is going on? Please have the decency to let your fans know one way or the other!!!

So I just read MY NAME IS MEMORY and I'm going crazy hoping there will be a sequel. I am totally in the same boat!!
It can't just hang there!! I want more of these characters!!
Maybe I'm crazy ... And maybe change.org would cringe at the fact that I'm using their site for a fantasy book.
But I REALLY want the sequel. And if they're not prioritizing the book for some reason, how about we do something? Like ....

She said on Twitter that as soon as she gets the rights, she'll go back to working on the sequel and find a way to publish it.
I JUST finished the book and this is crazy! What do I do now???? I need to know what happens next!!!
I didn't think it needed a sequel. In fact I loved it because it was a complete stand alone story. What could the sequel possibly give us that we can't figure out for ourselves? Either Daniel kills his brother and gets back to Lucy or he doesn't. Either way they had time together and loved each other. They will see each other again.
Jeez!! I read this book in 2011...Still waiting :( I hear there was a movie in production based on the book. Is this true? If so, when will there be a release date?
So I just re read this book after a couple years and still no sequel! I'm sitting in class crying because cliffhanger and no more books are out. I love this so much and the publishers are being meanie faces.
I loved this book...until the final pages. It seems like a lazy attempt to just skip ahead and end it. I told everyone not to read it if they, like me, demand a decent ending.
ive read this book at least 5 times, maybe closer to ten. i try to read it once a year and am currently reading it again.
i need a sequel so bad, and i really hope they discuss other points in time between the two of them, that we didn't get all their interactions in the first book. i need more epic time traveling love lol

It's coming this year! 2019 lol Check out her Twitter. I'm so excited. Finally!!!!
A SEQUEL IS COMING THIS YEAR!!! In case no one saw my previous post. Check out @AnnBrashares on Twitter
November 2019...still no sequel! Just finished reading my name is memory and forgive the pun but it was unforgettable. What's up with no sequel?!
She replied to a tweet on April 2, 2020 that a sequel is coming and she is "working on it every day"

YESS!!!
me! me! i've read this some time ago and been wanting to know what happens next...
This was one of the first books I ever read and I desperately want a sequal!
Yes, I want a sequel too. After I read it I just assumed there was one and then could not find one. I agree I was just really getting into it when it ended. Odd that she would not write one especially with all the trilogy/movie maddness that is going on. They even make movies out of crap (insurgent/allegiant) now just to get the $$ since Twilight (speaking of crap). And this story at least is a little different.
i liked the book and would love a sequel! i didn't know there was supposed to be one, but i hope it will be since the end really annoyed me!
This is one of the BEST books I've ever read. I've been waiting patiently for the sequel... I hope publishing politics don't stop this one from being written.
I've read that this book didn't do well enough, so the publishers aren't interested in publishing a sequel. It's too bad; I would've gladly read a sequel to this book!
Please publish the squeal! I read this book several years ago and still check to see if the next book has been published. It drives me crazy such a beautiful story left undone. Please finish this story!
I loved this book as well and am disappointed to find out that there will be no sequel. I've not read any her other books but will definitely be looking into them.
She did a Q&A on Twitter not to long ago where she got this question:
This doesn't pertain to #HereAndNow, however it does to My Name is Memory. Is there going to be another book to follow MNiM?
Here was her response:
I always intended to write more MNIM. I have a lot more to say. I'm hoping to get the chance in the next year.
So, *Fingers Crossed* we get a sequel soon!
=)
