Laura Mitchell (laurarm) | 2 comments I'm not sure if this group still active, but I thought I'd post a message in case it is.

My name is Laura Remson Mitchell. I've been a science fiction fan for as long as I can remember, and I recently published a science fiction novel of my own, The Reality Matrix Effect, which is available at http://tinyurl.com/R-Matrix-FX as a Kindle edition and at http://tinyurl.com/my-RME as a Smashwords edition (multiple formats). It's also available at Barnes and Noble as a Nook book. (Note: The tinyurl addresses are shortcuts for the full URLs.)

Though I haven't gotten around to attending a live meeting, I've heard about LASFS from a friend. So when I saw this group on Goodreads, I thought I'd try to connect electronically. I hope to see a response soon to tell me this group is still going.

This group is, alas, extremely quiet. The person who was running it has taken a break from the club and has taken the account password with her.

You're welcome to look in on the Facebook page, .
And of course, we have the LASFS website at .

Nick (smithnik) | 4 comments Also, some of the members of the LASFS Goodreads group still post things individually. So, it's fairly easy to connect with the individuals and bypass the currently-stuck group.
It might be possible to add yourself to the group without the approval of the former moderator, too. I believe that would work.
Plus, you really should come to the club itself and meet people, if you're in the Los Angeles area.

Thanks to both Nick and Karl for all the advice.

I wanted to let you know that Smashwords is conducting a new promotion called "Read a Book a Week" from March 2-8, 2014. During that promotion period, The Reality Matrix Effect will be available (in multiple electronic formats) for only $1, instead of the retail price of $3.99. If you haven't yet bought the book, now is the time to try it! You can get the Smashwords edition at http://tinyurl.com/my-rme .

I must admit that I'm nervous about promoting my book to a group like LASFS. This is my first--and probably only--novel. But if Shrodinger's cat is neither dead nor alive until it is observed, I guess you could say that a book doesn't really exist until it's read! (Actually, I have had enough readers to earn my first royalty check on the Kindle edition, but I haven't had many sales since then.)

In any case, I invite you to take advantage of the promotion.

Thanks again for your advice. I am going to try to get to a LASFS meeting sometime.
