Just do what I do when I dislike the endings of books: imagine a better ending and forget the other one.It worked for me - I also hated the way Dashner finished his series.
I personally liked Brenda more than Teresa, but I think it was pretty obvious why Dashner killed off Teresa. He didn't want to make the same mistake Suzanne Collins made in Mockingjay. They didn't want a bunch of teenage girls going, "Oh...why didn't he end up with the other one?" and blah blah blah. He wanted a reason why Thomas ended up with Brenda. Think, if both lived to the end....who WOULD Thomas end up with? He probably couldn't choose, and would give neither of them. He'll be all "friend-zoned" like forever. Newt's death on the other hand was HORRIBLE! It was like Chuck's death but even worse! You knew Newt for 3 books! At least poor little Chuck's death was quick, but Newt.....he was slowly going insane! I was SO ANGRY at Dashner! Put it this way...Chuck's death made me so sad (nearly cried) and Newt's death made me so ticked off and angry!
Now, how you get over endings like this, do what I do. Abuse your pillow. Let out all your anger and hate through punching a pillow. It helps...or maybe I'm just weird. ;)
I know what you mean. i just didn't feel it was right to kill her just in 5 words .. she deserved more than those 5 words :D
Newt and Teresa..... =[ need I say anymore? I was a Newt fan like everyone else and I believe his death was well written but what are the flipping odds Thomas actually would find Newt on the highway!!!! My eyes teared up :( then Teresa I was a huge teresa fan in the first book and then in the scorch trials I didn't like her after her and aris tricked thomas!!! The rest of the scorch trials I felt a happy guilt every time Thomas was mean to her and I pictured her as the truly evil one and I wanted to Brenda to get Thomas (Brenda I loved in book two and she was a cool character but a little... Umm how do I put it... A tramp? She was throwing herself all over Thomas in book 2. I still liked her but James dasher gets me going) anyway when Teresa died it was all so sudden and fast I was crushed... When we first see her being crushed I was so sad and then when she said I only cared for...... We know she only cared for Thomas even though she never finished the sentence.... I cried... I have never cried while reading a book or watching a movie, I finished the book an hour ago and tears are streaming down my cheeks as i type this... I felt like a jerk when Teresa died because inside of me I liked Thomas being mean to her even though she truly loved Thomas and would never hurt him.. ( I know that your saying she did hurt him but she did it out of fear of losing him) I loved Teresa as a character... dashner crushed me.. Good job dashner.... Mihno... He was cool and very witty and had a fighting spirit in him, I thought he was going to die someone along the lines but he never did... Good job mihno you lived, I love mihno btw bless his heart... Thomas was never really described that much he was the main character so he's cool.... Chuck reminded me of my little brother so I loved chuck as a character and when he died I sobbed and my pillow was wet from my tears... But to then later figure out that WICKED made chuck jump infront of thomas... I felt like crap after reading that... Next character.. Hmmm Gally... Excuse me galley but I thought you died like 53 times.... Jeez he can't die I guess no more than that.... Frypan was a minor character who cooked good food and he was funny too... Rat face...i felt bad for him.. I knew he probably had the flare... I felt bad for him until the end and he went crazy... SCrEW YOU RATFACE!!! It's his fault Teresa died because he made them stay in that room longer because they had to fight him and his "groupies" andnif they could of just left teresa would still be here.... Jorge was a cool pilot who was useful, If you read this I love you.. I have cried writing this
I feel every word u said. i felt exactly the same. i hated Teresa and Aris , and i was happy every time Thomas was mean to her and i hoped he would kick Aris ass one day *Still do* but honestly Teresa's dead with rly rly bad. it's not fair. yes what she did was awful and crushed Thomas heart , but come on why didnt she get at least a dramatic death like NEWT? her death made me really really sad .. even when i hated her after Scroth Trails ...... Really poor girl :( :(And she was with him since they are kids .. she always loved him and she was always beside him and crying *when he was leaving to the Maze* .. she just wanted to be with him ... stupid stupid Teresa WHY DID YOU HAVE TO BROKE HIS HEART LIKE THAT WITH ARIS?!! :( :(

Mohamed Nasr just gets it... He just understands what i feel.. me and my friend are reading this book and he wants to co comment with me from this comment but he is over halfway through with this book 3 and im reading the scorch trials right now

I really can't get over the ending.
The first book was really really amazing. i got attached to it . i read it 3 times already and in my 4th read. but i just can't get over Treasa's death. I like Brenda and so, But her death was really bad.
She was his childhood friend "Deedee / Trease" she only cared about him. she was always here for him. and what she did was really stupid but that what made Thomas the final candidate "She listened to them but he didn't" but she only did it cuz she LOVES him.
I dont care who would he end with but her death was really rushed. Newt death was really emotional but her's was really bad .... she didn't deserve this treatment from Dashner :( :(
Does anyone know why Dashner decided to do this? did he mention her death in any interview?

Sigh ... it will take me along time to get over this ... i dont even feel like reading any other book
