I have only read these two..but they are both excellent reads. If you enjoyed Looking for Alibrandi you will probably enjoy Saving Francesca.

I'm really enjoying it, just haven't gotten much reading done :(

The Fault in Our Stars is a great book!

Heather | 388 comments I've completed Jane Eyre★ ★ ★ ★ For a classic I quite enjoyed it.

Kadi (kads) | 99 comments I finished The Long Walk on Monday. I gave it 4 stars but I'm struggling to write a review. I can't put into words what I thought about it. I did find it all a bit disturbing though.

Nikki ☁ (nikkicloud) I just finished The Fault in Our Stars

I'm reading that now for this challenge. How gorgeous is it?

message 159: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 3569 comments I finished Sister of My Heart by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni which is about two cousins who grow up together as sisters in Calcutta, and the secrets, loves and life events that threaten to come between them. It is about the differing lives chosen by (or perhaps, more accurately, chosen for) these girls turning into women. It is about how they manage the potentially heart-breaking situations life throws at them. I wasn't sure about this one at first, but in the end, I really enjoyed it - 4★.

Elaine | 2001 comments Finished my one and only read for this challenge, The Fault in Our Stars. I adored it. A four star read for me. It's going to be a hard act to follow and I am struggling to choose my next read.

Something light to follow that one Elaine:)

message 163: by Nicola (new)

Nicola | 1161 comments finished my second book The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger The Catcher in the Rye / J.D. Salinger - not my cup of tea - felt like I was reading the childish version of On the Road / Jack Kerouac (not that I thought that it was grown up either!). But it is another classic off my list. Probably won't get my third book in before the end of the month as it's still out on loan!

It probably should be Brenda but looking at the next four on my list they're all quite heavy going I think. Unless I sneak one in between. :)

Yes but that's because YOU can read a hundred books in a day!!! You know what I mean. Not sure I have much "light" reading on my list, Brenda. Any suggestions? Maybe I should get you to toss that coin of yours. :)

I don't know what you own Elaine, but looking at your to-read shelf, The Tailor's Girl by Fiona McIntosh and Snapshot by Garry Disher are both easy reads...

Funny I was actually looking at my stack of books here on the floor!!!!...and thought I might read the Disher but I actually just started some short stories that are written by my husband's tutor at uni. Figured they'd be a bit lighter and shorter. And as he's an Aussie I'll count it towards my Aussie author challenge.

Good on you:) If you need another the Disher one is an easy read:)

message 170: by Elaine (new)

Elaine | 2001 comments Thanks Brenda. I'll have to get to the Disher eventually as I've borrowed it from a customer at work and it's also part of the Aussie author challenge.

Rochelle (sharpewords) | 62 comments I have just finished my March challenge read. I read The Fault in Our Stars 4 stars. It was good but way to sad for me. I usually try and avoid books this sad because they destroy me but my curiosity was killing me.

I have just finished The Fault in Our Stars for my third book in this challenge. I'm afraid I'm all out on my own here, but I did not warm to this book. The teenagers were simply not believable to me, far too pretentious and precocious. I cannot even classify it as a coming of age book because the main characters didn't grow up, they already were! However I would imagine that this book would be immensely appealing for teenagers as it would validate their belief that they are world-wise. My teenage self would rate it 5 stars, but for this hardened old heart, only 3.

No Valerie, I'm with you on this one (see my comment earlier in this thread #85). I know exactly what you mean. For example, at 16.5 years of age, and tethered to an oxygen tank, when did Hazel learn to drive and how is it that she can drive unaccompanied? It just didn't really ring true for me.

Stephanie Ward (stephmward) | 26 comments Unfortunately, I didn't finish Maya's Notebook for the March challenge (I'm almost done!), but when I was traveling last week, I had my Kindle and read Write About Me by fellow Aussie author Melissa-Jane Pouliot. If you've read the book, you'll likely agree it wouldn't be considered "coming of age", but was a good read and wanted to share my review (just posted) if anyone is interested.

Congrats to everyone that accomplished this challenge!
