I will be reading And the Mountains Echoed and The Goldfinch and I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban and maybe The Book Thief, as I will be on holidays :)

"I read that a couple of months ago for banned book week. I really enjoyed it. Didn't like the movie so much.
I will try and read "The Getting of Wisdom" by Henry Handel Richardson if I can get a copy. Australian author means I can add it to my annual challenge too!

I think I will go with Looking for Alibrandi, but I can recommend two I have just read that Text is publishing 26/2/14 if anyone is looking for inspirationThe Lost Child by Suzanne McCourt
and
On Earth as It Is in Heaven: A Novel by Davide Enia
I rated both these 5★s

I read the blurb but I'm not sure Kerri; I haven't read it but my 3 moderator buddies have all read it. So Sally, Michael or Michael...an opinion for Kerri please?

Kerri wrote: "I'll join in with Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children if it fits?"Hi Kerri I read it ( and loved it) but I am not sure if it is a coming of age story in itself as the 'journey' is not completed in this book and won't be finished until the end of the third book in the trilogy. I think the focus of the challenge is that the coming of age journey is completed in the book you read. I had a quick look at your bookshelf and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith certainly fits the bill perfectly :)

Thanks Liam. Just started after my rapt read of . And to think Green & I share the same hometown!

I'm just about finished The Book Thief. So can't count that. I will start with The Long Walk as I have 2 other library books to read.

I'm in! I was just given Maya's Notebook and believe this fits the topic. Anyone else reading/read it? Thx, Stephanie

Ok, for this challenge I will be reading from my TBR list: Winter

by John Marsden"Winter is sixteen. It's time to come home."
Hope this fits the bill?

Great Sally...will check out your review.

Arena wrote: "I will join but don't know what I am going to read"I'm still trying to decide myself - I have a few review books lined up to read this month and hopefully one will fit the criteria :)
If not I'll pop into here to see what other people are reading and hopefully be inspired.
Still finishing off (and only about halfway through) Bitter Greens, and Burial Rites for my audiobook so don't think I'll be starting anything new tomorrow... Maybe Sunday. Or Monday. Hope everyone enjoys their month of reading in March!

Jennifer wrote: "Finished my first for this challenge..the secret life of bees"That was quick. Well done. I loved The Secret Life of Bees I liked her second as well The Mermaid Chair I am sure I read recently that she has a new one out which I'll have to chase up
I am one of the many who pledged to dip into The Fault in Our Stars for this challenge.Well, I've finished and I know I will probably be lynched for this, but I gave it 2.5 stars. As I mentioned in my review, I didn't find John Green's 'youth voice' convincing enough. There were also aspects of the 16+17yo relationship and lifestyle that didn't ring true for me (although that may just be my ignorance of life as teen America).
As the month is still very young, I'm also planning to read Black Swan Green for this challenge, but in the meantime I think I'll dive into something with no teenage characters.
Finished my first book for this challenge: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak AMAZING!My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Man I am having a slow couple of weeks' reading. May have been a mistake picking a 1200 page book :P

Just finished my first book for the challenge : Captains and Kings by Taylor Caldwell. It's got to be close to forty or fifty years old but is a great read., about a young Irish lad immigrating to America , and how establishes himself to the point where his son had a chance of becoming President. I've just read that it was made into a tv mini series back in the 70's, and that there is some conjecture that the story was loosely based on JFK. An oldie but a goodie

I finished my "coming of age" read for the month - The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd and enjoyed it - it was a 3 star read for me. It was a quick read, quite light, although some of the subject matter (racial tension in South Carolina in the 1960's) was anything but light, however it was presented in a manner suitable for its teen/YA target audience and was probably just what I needed after some more intense reads prior to this.

I also finished my coming of age read for March,

Winter by John Marsden and what a great little book it was. Only 135 pages so quite a quick read, but packed with good story. Highly recommended. I gave it 5*s.*A good choice for the Aussie author challenge.

So I've had a bit of a dilemma with this challenge. I really wanted to read The Fault in Our Stars

but there were so many reserves at the library that I never would have got it in time. Well lucky for me I went into work today and there was a damaged copy that no one else wanted. So now I own a copy that I'll be reading soon!!! :)
